Games, books, and everlasting experiences.

I've always had a problem with not finishing games. I guess part of the reason is that when it's done, it's done. Replay value aside the original thrill and excitement of playing something new gets reduced so I stop half way as if to keep the game forever in limbo and the experience continuing indefinitely.

I can't do that for books, though. For books, I need to finish just to see what's at the end. Again, replay value aside, it's hard to re-read a book, even a good one, if you've read it already. The adventure isn't the same. Not that it's a bad thing, but different from the first read through. But I can't treat books like I treat games; if the book is good I need to know the end; if the characters are good I need to see what happens to them; and if there's a long running build up from page one I sure as hell need to know what it is.

For anyone interested I am currently reading Feed by Mira Grant. It's a post zombie outbreak setting with life all over the world settling back into place, although with different guidelines to account for zombies roaming around. The characters are great; background is always my cup-o-tea when it comes to zombies; and the plot is like, as quoted from the author, “NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD meets THE WEST WING.” It's a good read that I'm sad to say I've almost completed. The silver lining on the cloud is that it's part of a book series. The dark patch in the cloud is that the next book won't be out for another year.
