Oh man.
I saw Serenity and Corpse Bride the other day. Got home at about 1am, got up at 6am and went to work for 12 hours. It was awesomely tiring in a not-so-tiring kind of way.
Corpse Bride is a good movie but not better than Nightmare Before Christmas. The songs aren't as catchy and the living female lead is kinda annoying. Also, the movie was fairly predictable. But which ones aren't?
Serenity was.. well. It was a movie by Joss Whedon. It was excellent, but I think I put it on too high of a pedastal so it wasn't as good as I expected. I know what Tim from
Ctrl+Alt+Del was talking about when he was talking about it. The characters weren't as warm as they were in the show, and neither was the ship. I was kind of disappointed by the camera work as well, it just didn't have the same feel. The storyline was good, and SHOCKING. Honestly, I was shocked when that thing happened towards the end to that one character. My mouth was opening for the five minutes following it. I just couldn't believe they could do that. I am a big fan of Joss Whedon still, and I loved the Firefly series and Serenity movie, but as I said, the pedastal was so high I couldn't climb it with a giant ladder.
Also, Chiwetel Ejiofor is a damned fine actor and one of the most interesting and believable villians ever. I remember seeing him in Dirty Pretty Things awhile back and being absolutely amazed. He's in my top five favorite actors of all time, you know, if I had a top five actors of all time list. I don't.
Other than that, work kinda sucks. But when doesn't it? Oh well, at least I get to plan out my game purchases for half the day. Gamespot.com, please don't go away! And take away that shitty redesign :(
I also bought five books from
Barnes and Noble: Suikoden III, Volume 1 by Aki Shimizu and Illustrated by Reiko Yoshida, Meditations by Marcus Aurelius and translated by George Long, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, Rome and the Barbarians, 100 B.C.-A.D. 400 by Thomas S. Burns, and The Epic of Gilgamesh by N.K. Sandars and translated by Nancy K. Sandars.
I got a $50 Gift Card from my Grandmother for my birthday. I am nineteen years old, and a few days. HA!
