Britty. Gosh. So much has changed since last year. For everyone. 2007 has been so shitty. I miss when we were in junior year and everything was simple and we had studies together and we had no idea what sorts of things can happen and we weren't afraid of or giving up on the future.
And about what you're saying. Going into counseling and therapy is difficult, but from what I've seen, it's mostly because of the mental strength you need to deal with those types of interactions. You don't have to get a PhD to help people. Therapy and counseling services range from psychiatrists who prescribe meds to life coaches and community leaders. All you may need for a career is maybe a certificate in counseling (two years), or a bachelor's degree. One of my friends began volunteering for a sexual harassment hotline when she turned 18, after doing a short training program. Also, you want to be an actual therapist, you go out to get your master's degree for a reason--it IS a challenging job, but after six years of preparing for something, I don't see how anyone could be clueless, no matter how far they are from being a genius. Believe me Britty, if you were dumb and cluesless, I wouldn't love you. c: Hahah I'm a bitch like that. <3
So, yeah. You still have a chance to build up from what you have now. If you get your GED, you could go from that, to acceptance to a community college, to transferring to a state college that won't leave you buried in loan payments for the rest of your life.
Still, if that's overwhelming, you could do volunteer work. Just to get a nice taste of your dream. Even through volunteer work, if you impress the people you work for, you can increase your rank and end up with a real job at a counseling center of some sort.
Just because you can't do a calculus equation or had a weak moment in life doesn't mean you can't contribute to the world. Anyone who says otherwise is stuck up and just wants to feel better about their own obnoxious little reality.
