There and Back Again
I've been watching Peter Jackson's video blogs for The Hobbit. It's so cool to see the same locations and designs from a decade ago (a decade?! I feel old now!) and know they're going to be used for a new story. The cast is pretty exciting (my mind did boggle for a second when I first heard that Richard Armitage was playing a dwarf). I figured I should actually get around to reading the Hobbit at last, and now that I have I'm looking forward to the movies even more.
Also, while I'm completely disinterested in this fixation on 3D at the moment, it was fascinating to see Alan Lee and John Howe executing the exact same drawing side by side, simultaneously, to create 3D concept art. Now that's collaboration.
