Yup, as practically all of you now know, my little bro is back home safely from Iraq. I can't even begin to tell you how much of a relief it is! It has been nothing but 14 months of stess, worries and anxiety in addition to no sleep.
It's pretty cool, because I've gotten at least 7 hours sleep each night since I found out he was back in the states. 7 is great compared to 4-6 a night.
So let me tell you about my weekend. I took Thursday and friday off of last week to come home. I got home to CT around 3pm and my dad showed up. We sat around, bull shitted and drank a few beers. My mom came home and then we went out for a little bit and had dinner etc. After we came home, we continued making posters for my brothers homecoming which was friday afternoon.
I was awakend on Friday morning around 8:30am by Erin (my bro's future wife) who proceeded to jump on top of me as I slept. She always does that. She's a crazy girl! hehe So around 9am, after I got my coffee down, I went outside in my lovely red plaid pajamma pants and helped my mom, dad and Erin decorate our backyard. We have a major road run behind our house so we set up two very long painted banners which said "Welcome Home Sgt. Postemski" and put them facing the road so that both sides of traffic could see them. We also plastered the entire back yard with American flags and other red, white and blue stuff. It looked wicked cool. Our next door neighbors did the same thing. About 4 houses total were all decorated for the occasion.
So around 12:30, we left for Camp Rowland, in Niantic, CT. The Postemski clan was caravaning down! We had my mom, dad, Erin, me, my aunt, cousin bethany, and grandparents.
We arrived, ate lunch and chatted with the other families as we awaited there return to Camp Rowland. They were actually running on time for once! I guess it was because they had a state police escort in NY State, Mass. and CT. They were moving the traffic along. So around 3pm, we positioned ourselves where the buses would be coming and made sure no little bastards got in front on where we were standing. We were the first there! The buses finally arrived to a thunderous applause. Jay was on bus 1. We were waiting!
Finally, he walked off the bus and we screamed and yelled like maniacs! Jay came over and gave my mom, dad and I a huge hug. My mom was balling her eyes out, which set myself, Erin, my aunt, my gradfather and dad into tears.
It was a great day!
Next weekend is his official homecoming party. So I'll be heading home again for that. It will definately be a great time!
Well kids, I gotta get back to work! hehe
leave love . . .
