Fic!

It's official. I'm an idiot. I bitched for days about the awful episode I gave myself for the Missing Scene Challenge. I finally cobbled something together and then when I went to make the challenge post? Realized I wrote for the wrong episode. So as a result, this sucky episode gets two missing scenes when it barely rates one. I'm sure overnighter's ( Read more... )

I had to show that Sandy wasn't as bad at parenting as he seemed on the show. Er... I mean...

Heh. I knew you'd like it.

Whoa... Sandy hit Ryan?

Loved the entire scene starting with the punching bag and progressing to Ryan and the cigs and whiskey -- that was excellent, and seemed so in character for Ryan.

But some alterna-Sandy must have come into the kitchen in the end, or Sandy did go over to the dark side...

Discipline? Certainly. Smacking his kid? Completely unexpected, and very troubling. Ryan's reaction seemed like 'Atwood' Ryan -- accepting physical punishment as a matter of course. Maybe he was too intoxicated to be as shocked as I was... or simply too grateful to get any attention at all, even such a negative kind. If that's why he was so accepting, that's just heartbreaking.

Sandy's actions and Ryan's reaction should stir up some interesting comments.

I like smoking and drinking Ryan too.

It made the story more interesting. :)

Thanks for reading Chase. I do believe I've probably opened a can of worms with this ending.

Definitely got my attention! ;)

While I don't think Season 1 Sandy would even consider hitting Ryan, to be honest -- by Season 3 it sadly wouldn't have been completely beyond the realm of possibility. It would have been a huge breach of trust, though, and likely unforgivable. (Ryan might have forgiven, but *I* wouldn't. I still haven't forgiven the guy for the jumpsuit remark!)

I didn't recognize Season 3 Sandy most of the time, and hated the way he neglected both his bio-son and the kid he relegated to little more than 'border' status the better part of the season.

(Glad it seems Sandy has been reborn in Season 4, 'cause his character needed some serious redemption...)

chaseii was right, this was a very Chino Ryan. I was completely shocked at your Sandy. However, after some thought, I realized I shouldn't have been. By this time he had turned into a completely neglectful father, so slapping Ryan was just the next step in his downward spiral of parenting.

Yeah, Sandy wasn't too likable for a lot of this season. I don't believe Sandy would ever hit Ryan. But it's a fun dynamic to explore.

I don't think the "real" Sandy would ever hit Ryan either.

I was going to say that I liked that this Sandy, even at this juncture in S3, acknowledged Ryan and seemed to have time for him. There was even a hint of that old rare camaraderie with Sandy's familiar, friendly, casual shoulder contact. I was going to give the man points for being perceptive and reaffirming what Ryan had already determined on his own: stay away from a self-detructive, needy "M" with whom any involvement only spelled trouble, turmoil and pain for Ryan ( ... )

You'd probably have enjoyed the other ending better. :) This one had a bit more edge though.

Thanks for reading!

You certainly got my attention. I can't say that I would have been completely shocked if Sandy had reacted in a manner even remotely like that in canon. With Seth, yes. With Ryan, no. I was waiting for him to totally lose it for no justifiable reason, but I'm not sure he could be forgiven then...

Thanks for this- singularly and collectively!

BTW, is there one link for all the advent fic that you know of? Yeah, I'm lame!

I can't see Sandy hitting Ryan. Not really. This was just more fun. The other ending was boring.
