The other night I gave my friend a ride home around midnight. On the way home I saw a guy lying in the middle of a parking lot. Normally I would have been like "Eh, the copes will take care of him", but something made me stop. Maybe it was the fact that it was like 20 degrees out, I don't know. I was wacthing him as he tried to stand up, and then try to crawl, and then try sit up. He kept falling over and lying in the middle the parking lot. So I pulled in to see if he is ok and he tells me he is drunk (DUH!!!). So I ask him if I can give him a hand and he tells me I can give him a ride home or put him in his car. There was no way I was letting behind the wheel. So I help him into my car (no easy feat since he was 6' tall and about 250 lbs with no muscle control) and drive him home. The whole way there he is telling me how grateful he is and that he wants to give me money. I tried to refuse the money but he got all upset, and I wasn't going to piss of a 250 lb drunk guy in my car, so he gave me $3. I helped him to his door and he shook my hand about a dozen times.
The moral of the story: Sometimes you need to go out of your way and do something you normally wouldn't because you might save someones life. I think he would have frozen to death if I didn't give him a ride.
