Today I worked alone almost all day. Kat went home sick at about 9am this morning (on my advice, better she take one day off and get better then end up missing several days). This left me with no one to cover my breaks and alot of work to do that usually takes both of us to accomplish. In the end I got everything checked in, but was unable to finish the paperwork (something the management has been getting on us to make sure is done everyday), and I only had to skip one break and come back from lunch 15 minutes early in order to do it. That was pretty tiring.
On the way home from work I discover that my hands free set is no longer working on my cell phone. This is just another in a long series of issues I have been having with this particular phone. I got this one in March as a replacement to one that was no longer holding a charge. Over time this one has developed problems which include but are not limited too...1) not holding a charge, 2) randomly turning itself off then on again, 3) the speaker no longer working, 4) and now the hands free set no longer working. The only thing that does work on it is the speaker phone, which is a pain in the ass to have to use all the time, especially since there is no way to have a private conversation.
So I called Cingular when I got home to find out what can be done about these problems. First I talk to customer service who asks me my name, phone number, address, last 4 of social. I explain all the problems I am having to her and she says I have to talk to tech support. They get on the phone and ask me my name, phone number, address and last 4 of my social. So I explain all these problems to her and she says I need to talk to the insurance dept. Name, address, phone number and last for on my social. Explanation #3...Oh you need to talk to the warranty dept because you phone is still covered till March of next year. I get transferred again...name, address, phone number and last four of my social. This is really starting to get on my nerves at this point since I am supposed to be going to a friends house to hang out and it has been half an hour already. So I explain yet again all the various issues I am having with this phone. I jump through all their hoops. Answer all their stupid questions which are designed to make me admit to damaging the phone so they can say its not covered under the warranty. Then finally I get my claim in. Now I have another concern which I need them to help me with. Since I HAVE TO return my old phone with in 14 days of receiving the new phone I want to know how I can save all the pictures I have taken. She tells me I will have to talk to tech support for that information. So she transfers me to tech support and speak to yet another woman and go through the whole thing again. She tells me that she can't access my account information because she is in the mid west, so she can't even explain to me how to take care of my pictures, but if I talk to someone who can access my info they will be able to help me. So I ask her to transfer me again, now it has been about 45 minutes at this point, and when she does....wait for it....this is great...I get disconnected. I was so damned frustrated that I said fuck it, I will call them back when I get the new phone and then I should be able to take care of all of this.
So I head up to my friend Jay's house, we have dinner, chat for awhile, then watch Fat Albert. It was a Surprisingly good movie. Not very thought provoking, but then after a day like today it was probably better that way. It did make me very nostalgic and want to watch the old cartoon again.
