I know, I should be asleep, but I woke up a few minutes ago and started thinking about my ability to see the future. I don't mean I'm psychic or a seer or any bullshit like that, I mean that I can see how patterns emerge and predict the outcomes. It usually take a laundry list of questions to get an answer and is rarely 100% accurate (and I'm horrible with selecting a percent too).
Take Barack Obama for example. A year ago I gave him a slim margin to be in the position he is in now. Head of the pack in Iowa, dead heat with Clinton and Edwards in New Hampshire. If he wins Iowa, which he can do if he woos Iowans who support Richardson and other 2nd and 3rd tier candidates (because the Iowa Caucus is different than a primary), then he has a very good chance of pulling away in New Hampshire. The only problem is that NH sometimes likes to pick on the winner in Iowa. But if he wins both, his chances of winning the primary are about 90%. If he starts winning them all quickly in succession I see either an Obama/Edwards or Obama/Richardson ticket coming out fairly soon to stop any attacks from those quarters. No ticket with Clinton is viable.
Right now, if everything goes as is on the Republican side, we'll see Mike Huckabee, someone I called out months ago as the best chance for the Republicans, and probably the only one who can get over the fame and capital of the 3 front runners (Guliani, Romney, and McCain). Hes basically taken McCain's spot and doesn't look like hes going anywhere but up. His biggest opponent will be Romney, as the other two are getting buried by themselves and only Romney seems willing to fight his way out of his problems. So look for maybe a Huckabee/Romney or possibly a Huckabee/McCain ticket this upcoming November.
I did all that just answering a few questions in my head. And I've used it on things other than politics, like "how would a corporate buyout work?" and "What is the future of the International Political Economy?" and other stuff like that. It could be used in any field, and I have used it many a time. And I suck at writing conclusions.
