You might want to go get knocked up just to get an abortion while it's still legal. You know, just for novelty value.

William Rehnquist may have been a cranky old conservative at heart, but at least he knew what the fuck the Constitution was about.

you can look at opinion polls, about 60-70 percent of this nation wants to keep abortions legal. It's already such an established institution there's no way they'll ever be able to turn it over.

I was talking to my father not too long ago and he voted for Bush and he's somewhat of a conservative guy, however, he had a brother who he loved very much who was gay and who died from AIDS in the early nineties. My uncle had a very slow and terrible death and it really bothered my father. Suffice to say that my dad doesn't have problems with gay people however he voted FOR an ammendment in the Mississippi state constitution that would make it so only marriages between men and women would be recognized in that state. When I asked him why he said "I don't have anything against gay people, my brother was gay and I loved him and even though I'm Catholic I really don't believe that God doesn't love homosexuals. The problem is, I'm just not ready for it." He went on to say, that even though our country might seem more conservative to us (the people of my generation) you have to understand that no matter what the political scene looks like, this country has been becoming more and more liberal over the years and it simply has to do with what one generation is raised to be comfortable with as opposed to what the preceding generation believed.

There are a couple of generations now that have been raised with the idea of abortion as a commonplace practice. And while it certainly ruffles some peoples' feathers, so do things like interracial marriages (which also used to be pretty much illegal in most state constitutions). However, times change. The new sublants the old, etc. etc. No worries folks.

GTA will always be legal, as will porn and oral sex, interracial marriages, and soon gay marriages. Roe v. Wade is a part of our society and I really believe it's here to stay. Honestly, I think the next major change will be the death penalty going out (again).
