5K (12:38 pace -- sigh)

Oct 06, 2001 11:44

After only 6 hours of sleep I was nonetheless awake enough to hear one of them knocking on my door. "Are you up? Wanna run the roadrace in Davis Square?"

"Argh, dammit. I was hoping you'd oversleep. Fine, I'm up, let's go."

Now, according to my little handout, I'm not supposed to exercise for 36 hours. However, since I'm not in enough pain (from my extraction, anyway) to merit an advil, my particular case is probably light enough to merit the risk. Besides, one look at my giant (Ravenous) Butt (Blatter Beast of Traal) usually motivates me to run.

My trainer would be disappointed that I walked the uphills but I figured I could justifiably go a little easy. It did screw my time though. My first mile was done in 11:30, my second 13:56, my final 1.1 in 13:40 or so.

Even at my slowass pace, I earned free JohnnyD's oatmeal. Wes Carroll introduced me to it, and how to mix cream and brown sugar to achieve perfect oatmeal feng shui. (Why I take food advice from skinny guys is another mystery yet to be solved.) I generally don't want it any other way.

I'm invited to a brunch there tomorrow, I may go back just for more oatmeal.
