those who have gone before

Jason

My friend Jason. The man who showed me how to shoot up correctly. A 6'4" hulk of a man. Kind and gentle as is common of men too big to fear anything. His brother Justin was an all-american wide receiver at Stanford and played for the NFL for four different teams. Buffalo, Philadelphia, Denver, and Baltimore. He never put up exceptional numbers, and in fact scored only seven touchdowns in his NFL career. He is sort of forgotten except among those who knew him in the small town of Manitou Springs, Colorado. There he will always be a hero, a small town boy makes good if you will.

But this is not about him. This is about Jason. Jason who used to sell 60mg MS-Contins that you could scrape the time release coating off of and shoot. Jason who used to have 20 bags of heroin sent to him from Portland inside cassette tapes.

Jason fell out in a car one night after a particularly heavy dose of heroin. The people he was riding with freaked out and dumped him on the side of the road. He died there. If the junkies he was with had the courage to dump him at a hospital he might be around today.
