Bastards!
Well, my school finally got around to telling me they have a problem - two days before the meeting where it all gets aired...
Apparently, I'm not consistent enough in my teaching and my behaviour management is weak. Sure, I've had a few problems, but the flip side of that is that they dumped a student teacher into not one but FOUR classes full of bolshy dropouts with little to no support. Let's all take our share of the blame here hmmm? Today the behaviour management specialist I'd booked came in and looked at some of my classes - apparently it's not common to have all your classes changed every term and to be given the hardest sets to deal with. He called it 'scandalous'.
My mentor suggests that I don't qualify now, but stay for another half term in September, probably at Middle School (Neglecting the fact that it would be unpaid - I stop getting paid in August) before trying to qualify. A bit late in the day, what with my TDA date booked for two weeks time...
Thus far, I've completed every essay, passed every observation and gotten through every interview. I've passed my online skills test and schools are ringing me at home to headhunt, but my current school don't want to sign off on me, which could can the whole thing.
My counter argument will be that I should complete my training next half term at a different school, possibly the middle school I did some training at. This would mean moving my assessment to there with only three days to get to know the kids, but that would be better than dealing with the lack of support I'm getting. Wednesday should be interesting to say the least.
As an additional irony, I planned for four lessons yesterday and the one I ended up teaching wasn't any of the ones I'd planned for because "the weather was too humid for it to work, use these sheets instead".
Fine, time to tap my resources. If you're a pray-er, call the Man for me. If you're a witch, do what you do. Chaotician? Hit the entropic flow and bend it in my favour. Ceremonial magickian? Do your thing. Positive vibe type? Think happy thoughts. I'm going to win this thing. The meeting is 9am to 11am on Wednesday, so that's when I'll need it most. I'll also hit my more mundane resources, paper trails, evidence, reviews and such like. I'll set up an alternative arrangement that can be snapped into place and allowed to run.
