Because I want them to have a horrible angsty socially unacceptable romance, obviously. And be fucking ridiculous bamfs together. And tattoos. Although that one could also be cool ffff.

To keep them really socially unacceptable, they have to be guardians, thus betraying all the selflessness instilled in them by guardian school, etc. If one of them was Moroi, it'd be semi-socially acceptable to carry on some form of relationship, like Tasha Ozera was looking for with Dimitri. Barring the whole, you know, reproduction aspect. We want allllllll the angst!

Also, on a less plotty note, because Eames's body type would have to be long, lean ballet dancer instead of built like a brick shithouse, and apparently, Nellie and I are shallow enough that it matters :)
