You know who sneaks Jujubees into theaters? Terrorists!

I actually went out and did something this July 4th instead of sitting home, like I usually do on most holidays (and birthdays). My mother and I went to town for some shopping and saw Transformers while we were out.

Going to the movie theater is always such an event for me. Probably because I don't go very often. I start to get jittery moments before going in (almost close to nervous), my heart rate goes up and I just get excited. It's such an experience to me. Sitting in a dark theater where the only thing you can see around you is a gigantic screen in front of you, from which thunderous sounds are coming from. While watching a movie in my home, my eyes will wander to my desk or pets in the middle of it. Not here. There only thing to focus on is the movie.

I find it very exhilarating. I guess, since I don't go often, it's akin to when a country yokel arrives in the city and sees all the fancy urban gadgets. Or maybe I'm just a gigantic nerd.

As for the movie, I loved it. I've never been a big Transformers fan, but I watch a few of the cartoons in my early teen years (Beast Wars!). I'm familiar with the series. It was a very good summer blockbuster. I don't know why so many people hate LaBeouf, but I thought he was the heart of the film. He really held it together and anchored a ridiculous premise of "robots from space" (ridiculous to non-fans). It was a fictional movie that tried hard to place itself in a real world and the display of real human emotion helped greatly.

My only complaint is the lack of character development in the Transformers themselves. I'm a huge Starscream fan and he shows up so late (with only one line!). They needed to show off the Transformers' personalities more outside of a few one-liners, especially the Decepticons, which are the most unique of the bunch. An argument between Megatron and Starscream (followed up with a leadership beatdown), a joyride around town with Jazz and/or a scene where Ratchet fixes up a fellow Autobot could've really stood out. A shame, but the movie was long enough as it is.

I didn't see any fireworks on the 4th, but fireworks are overrated. I've seen a lot in my lifetime and I'll definitely be seeing more.

I'm going on vacation to Disney World this month. It'll be my first time to the Animal Kingdom park. I'm kinda excited, but I seem to have a lethargy that dampens any desire to go outside and be active. I'm comfortable in my computer world for now. In the future, I would greatly enjoy doing "outside" activities and events with a girlfriend/wife, but until that happens, I'm just a shut-in.

But, then again, I get a lot of exposure during my college semesters. I was so exhausted by the time my semester ended, I was looking forward to this summer where I could just waste away in my room. Now I've done that. I better enjoy it while it lasts.
