Sleep has over taken me this week. My
NaNo word count has suffered; I'm about 12,000 words behind right now, but I haven't given up yet. Nothing exciting is happening today so I should be able to get caught up eventually or get closer to where I should be, at least.
I wish I knew why I've been so tired lately. One day I had three cans of Coke to keep myself awake/alert, and I still fell asleep around 9. It's ridiculous! Could be lots of things: lack of quality sleep, caffeine has the opposite effect on me, not enough exercise ('cause I'm not walking as much right now), I need a vacation (hee hee!) .. Could also be medical/health things, but I'll deal with that later. I'm thinking of booking a cruise to Bermuda (see "I need a vacation") as a kind of birthday present to myself, but I haven't done it yet. Soon though ..
Speaking of exercise ..
My niece is funny. She borrowed my pedometer yesterday and will return it to me next weekend. She wore it when we went grocery shopping and was thrilled with counting her steps. She now wants to see how many steps/miles she walks in a given day. I think it's awesome. Pedometers are a great form of encouragement to walk, and walking is such a nice, simple form of exercise. I'm also pleased because I'd gotten her one for Christmas. She had expressed interest in my pedometer over the summer, and now I *know* she'll still be excited when she has one of her own.
I wasn't even planning on getting myself a pedometer until I had all my family members outfitted with one, but I gave one to a friend this summer for a birthday present. It's probably a lousy birthday present (to anyone but me!), but it made sense at the time since we used to go walking a lot. He was trying to get fitter so I thought it might be nice encouragement, when he was out and about, to see how much walking he actually does. And then I decided to get myself one at the same time, even though I had originally planned to wait. This way we could compare steps/miles, and I thought it'd be fun. Of course, by the time his birthday rolled around, we weren't really walking together much anymore, but I gave it to him anyway. I didn't mention that I'd gotten myself the same one or suggest a little fun competition of the steps or anything else I'd planned when I bought them because I realized not everyone's a geek like me. Oh well. At least I have mine, and my niece is excited to use it so she'll be happy with hers when I give it to her. And my little niece will probably want to go walking with me and our new pedometers. lol
After a handful of M&M's and two pieces of chocolate, I think I'd better have breakfast and do some NaNo writing before I head outside. It's gorgeous looking out there! A beautiful sunny autumn day, I suspect. I also need to get myself in town to walk around a bit before the winter weather rumbles in but not today. A local stroll is all I'll have time for before I sit myself down and toss some crumbs at the invisible robot fish.
