#SFIFF 2015: Movies Which Have Already Been Made

Apr 21, 2015 17:04

There's nothing wrong with remaking a movie that isn't Robocop, but that's not what a film festival is for. Here are some movies which rip off material a little more specific than The Hero's Journey:

The Dark Horse - "When Genesis begins volunteering at a youth chess club that serves as a community center and sanctuary for a ragged assortment of local kids, he instills in them his vision" (Stand and Deliver, Dangerous Minds, etc)

The Overnight - "Desperate for other adults to hang out with and awed by Kurt s ineffable cool, they eagerly accept his invitation. After a lovely meal with Kurt and his extremely attractive French wife Charlotte, the kids fall asleep, and Alex and Emily start to pick up on the fact that Kurt and Charlotte may have an adult play date in mind." (Zebra)

Saint Laurent - biopic of Yves Saint Laurent, just like last year's biopic entitled "Yves Saint Laurent"

Wonderful World End - "Shiori is initially wary of the attention but takes pleasure in being idolized, and eventually allows the girl to get closer. Ayumi's growing infatuation becomes difficult to disguise, and their odd friendship takes an unforeseen turn after Ayumi runs away from home and quietly begins to infiltrate Shiori's life and relationship with her boyfriend." (All About Eve)
