New Neal Stephenson-ish (via Hacker News)
So, Neal Stephenson and some of his friends in Seattle got into sword-fighting and other Western medieval martial arts, and some of his friends are authors. And so of course when you are producing creative projects there's always a feeler in your brain checking for whether something could be a new project, so it is not surprising that they decided to create a shared world where there is lots of swordfighting.
The end result so far is a website called The Mongoliad run by the awesomely-named Subutai Corporation, head honcho Neal Stephenson. If you make a login, then you get to read one chapter set in the shared world which may have been written by Neal and/or Greg Bear and/or other swordfighting enthusiasts who I don't know but are probably perfectly nice. The chapter covers 80% of a pretty cool sword fight.
