It's getting cold out now. I enjoy the cooler weather. Autumn temperatures are perfect for me, I like the smell of frost on the air, and I get to wear my Stripey Socks!!
These socks are my babies - Mom gave a pair to each of us girls (3 of us) at Christmas while I was still in college - before I met Paul, in fact. These wonderful things are pushing a decade now! Anywhere there are cold feet, there you will find the Stripey Sock. Yea, even unto the delivery room, where the air is cold and so are the toes, and the view is . . umm . . .questionable, the Stripey Socks remain true.
Bond enjoys crawling into bed with me. It's sweet, but it's getting hard to take a nap on the weekends.
I've been working on a caul to wear with the 15th century Italian gown I haven't made yet, to disguise the fact that I have boy hair. The website I found said that the Italian ladies decorated their cauls with embroidery, beadwork or woven fabric. Well, I don't have enough fabric to weave and still make my gown, and the beads I have around here right now aren't really appropriate to the use, so I am going the route of embroidery.
The motif I am working is a quartered square approximately 2" a side, with a little squiggley in each corner. I designed it my very own self. (and it's so damn simple that probably a thousand people before me have designed it themselves, too. It'll cover a circle of white muslin about 24" in diameter - that's a lot of squares and squigglies!!
We're going to be in St. Louis, MO this weekend partying with the folks. Actually, if my parents ever got over their mental block about never drinking in front of their children (the youngest of whom turned 21 in September), I'd pass out and die from shock. We'll be hanging out, perhaps is a better term for it. Much spoiling of the grandson will follow.
