I have a confession: I love cover songs. I've always admired people who can take something, put their unique stamp on it, and create something new. From the unbearable cool of Power Station's "Bang A Gong" and Coal Chamber's "Shock the Monkey" to the total randomness of Bobby McFerrin's "Pink Panther Theme" and Devo's "Satisfaction" (or any of ( Read more... )

Do you mean OTHER than William Shatner's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"? Perhaps Bruce Willis doing "Secret Agent Man"? KMFDM doing "These Boots Were Made for Walking"? or just Sad Kermit's "Hurt"?

Hmmmm.... Valid, but you're really entering WTF territory here. You might as well just go with Leibach's "Life is Life" or The Revolting Cock's "Do You Think I'm Sexy?" They're wrong for all the wrong reasons. ;-)

I would have to that Luther Wright and the Wrongs win that one. They did an entire CD that was a brilliant bluegrass version of Pink Floyd's The Wall. In its entirety.

Even saw them at the Hi Ho doing it live. "Fantastic!" as Christopher Eccleston would say.

That MIGHT just win... unless Ol' Doc Pinkerton does manage a "Ghost Riders in the Sky" cover....

I don't know, the Dr. Who theme from their podcast is pretty good too....

I'll collect my prizes later.

It's good, but you should hear Orbital's live version. Or the Dominick Glynn "Terror" or Mark Ayres "Mood" versions from "Variations on a Theme". And don't step up to the podium too fast there, buckaroo - we both seem to have forgotten about Dread Zeppelin (for those unaware, a reggae band fronted by an Elvis impersonator covering Led Zeppelin songs)....
