Thank heaven today is Thursday

I know it has been ages since I updated my post but this is due to many things happening i.e. life.

Last time I posted a general page about cani cross. My absolute passion is huskies and the sports around huskies.

A typical morning run goes as follows:

My heart beats faster, I get up before the sun does, hear the dogs breathing and excited yips and howls; egging me on to get done so that we can get on the road.

Once they are loaded and packed into my Polo (Yes two big Siberian Huskies)we hit the road and the tempreture is around 4-5 degrees celcius in full winter.

We arrive at the venue the air is crisp, sweet and clear. The sun is still sleeping as we enter the forest.

The dogs are vibrating by this time ready to hop out the car and start smelling and exploring. As my fellow mushers would say they are reading their daily newspaper.

I harness them around a tree while I get my instructions and the map of the trail with the rest of the mushers.

With the light of our headlamps we get our maps and numbered vests and return to harness in our dogs.

Then you hear the long ancient howl echo off the mountain in the forest as several huskies are being harenessed to do what they have been bred to do, run.

The starter announces your name and starting time and I hear my name. I feel both of my dogs pulling at my waist harness rearing to go and tear up the trail.

"5,4,3,2,1....Hike!" They are off the harnesses pull taut around their bodies as they dig into the soft ground and propel us forward at high speed.

Nothing beats this feeling, this is the season I live for.
