He was a former world heavyweight champion
He came back to full form from a broken neck
He was the epitome of what a wrestler, and an athlete should be.
He was one of my heroes… and Saturday night he strangled his wife, and Sunday Night he smothered his son. Monday he hung himself.
Sometimes I wonder if there’s a such thing as a hero.
John Lennon is a hero of mine… of course he walked out on his wife to be with Yoko, and then walked out on Yoko for his “Lost Weekend”
Aaron Sorkin is a hero of mine… of course he was a drug addict, who wrote most of The American President while bombed out on Cocaine. He’s been in and out of rehab several times.
Woody Allen is a hero of mine… and I don’t think I have to tell you what he did.
In a world full of fractured egos, and demented personas… I thought for sure I could look up to Chris Benoit. He was always one of the hardest working guys in the business. He wasn’t motivated by money, or a push or glory. Just by the sport of professional wrestling.
I thought for sure I could look up to Chris Benoit
This weekend proved me wrong.
There are no heroes left in this world.
From now on, I suppose I will have to be my own hero.
RIP
Nancy, Daniel, and Chris Benoit.
