All over some mountain dew.
So.. I just got lured into work to "work an hour" only for them to fire me today.
The reason you ask? They caught me on video stealing pop. While yes, that's kind of wrong to do... but fire me over it? I'm not buying it.
I know Valerie well because I used to be her assistant... and I fired this guy, Sean, about two years ago because he sucked as an employee... but we needed a reason. So we came up with some bogus reason, he called human resources to complain, and from now on we have to be extremely careful with terminations.
I was not given a verbal or written warning about the pop. I figured if I was caught, then I'd take the write-up and just not do it anymore. See, we have cans of soda in storage that we put in the meeting room when its booked and then we charge $1.00 for each. I'm not normally a thief, but working those long nights and occasionally putting in 10-12 hour days, you get a bit thirsty and don't really want to spend $1.25 a bottle for some soda. So.. here and there, yeah, I'd take a can of soda. I wouldn't even take what we were low on.
Basically I did the same thing fast food employees do. You think they pay for the fountain drinks? Hell, no... when I worked at Subway back in the day, we were able to bring in our own cup and have as much pop or whatever was in the fountain that we wanted.
Right now, I'm just so incredibly pissed. I punched the wall earlier and my knuckle is swelling up. :( I was at first shocked and just in a daze, but now I'm very angry.
Lauren was surprised about how well I took it, though.. it wasn't her decision. She just had to do it because she's my direct supervisor...so I wasn't harsh with her except for me mentioning that I was very pissed about how my schedule was for Christmas weekend, and how she changed the schedule twice without explanation or telling me. That was really the only beef that I had with her. If it had been Valerie giving me the news, my reaction would have been a lot different. I honestly think she's afraid that I might tell everyone that the hotel is being foreclosed... because my dad found out by his realtor friend and he told me and Valerie only.. noone was supposed to know but us. I didn't tell anyone, but wanted to badly. There's so many people that I felt close to that work there (including misscarlyb) that are going to show up to work one day and the doors will be boarded up. Fuck that.
