your dream is to become a photographer and you're stopping at the first roadblock you encounter-- your own self-doubt?
apply. the worst that will happen is that you won't get in. and not getting in means nothing. so do it!
(and if you do get in and minor in something you decide you don't like or aren't good at, then whatever. you don't need to impress anyone. push your limits, experiment, try new things. you will be glad you did. i promise.)
I like your work. But I wasn't in VisArts, so on the generalized side of advice...
APPLY. Unless the application fee is getting in your way then just send in your work and see how it all plays out. I'm pretty sure that Printmaking shouldn't require still-life drawing abilities, since from what I saw many of the prints were very geometric in nature. I can't say much about the Figure Drawing except that from what I remember, Figure Drawing classes were required for VisArts kids and open to those from other departments. I'm sure you'll be able to get a lot from the class even with little prior experience.
The most important thing is to give yourself a chance. Submit everything and worry about whether you'll get in later. If you're accepted, it means that those that reviewed your application believe in your ability to handle the classes.
I went to CSSSA 09 for visual arts and trust me, your stuff is definitly good enough to get in. I didnt take a photography class but I know that alot of the photography student had zero drawing experience ( and you do have to take drawing classes) and they did just fine and improved alot. The teacher will walk you through every step and its really fun! Printmaking doesnt require as much drawing as you think; I took that class and alot of it is actually just tracing because they dont include screenprintinting. The Only thing about printmaking is that you have to be prepared to put in some long hours of labor because the work gets a little tedious. And Definitly APPLY it doesnt hurt, even if you dont get in theres always next year!
heeeey! so i know the deadline already passed for applications, but i really hope you applied. i was at csssa last year for visual arts, and although im from california, i was totally in your position. i cant draw, but i was applying mainly for photo. i chose printmaking as my minor too, because i thought it sounded better than like painting...BAD CHOICE! printmaking is like drawing but one thousand times harder. but photo IS THE BEST EVER. and i checked out your stuff, and its definitly good enough. i wish you luck because csssa is the funnest, and hopefully ill see you this summer if we both get in! (i applied for creative writing this year)
