(Log) Dan & Adèle: we're dating!

Dec 16, 2008 13:33

So they had dinner together and he's walking her to Eir, when he kind of tells her he likes her and she says dlk;sjdgsd and they're official now, pretty much. Yes.

Also, this takes place on Christmas Eve and we logged waaaay ahead because Neon and I wanted to get over the corny ASAP. :<

Danilo
Adèle

He had treated her to a nice dinner in a restaurant. His excuse was that well, it was Christmas Eve. Never mind that his parents were already in Countshire--they had gone back to the hotel, promising to be back tomorrow morning to properly celebrate Christmas with all of their children.

He glanced at Adele who walked next to him and reached out to adjust her clumsily worn scarf. The weather was unbearably cold, but he figured he should get used to it soon; he wasn't going to travel around much like he did during his undergraduate years.

"What are you doing tomorrow?" He asked, trying to keep the atmosphere as nonchalant as possible. He had something to say to her today, after all. Something important.

He had randomly invited her out to dinner with the excuse that it was Christmas Eve. ...Well she supposed that was a good reason to invite someone out to dinner, but didn't he have more important people to invite? Like, his family, or someone...

She pouted a bit meekly when he fiddled with her scarf. It was bad enough that she was clumsy, but a guy fixing her clothes for her? Sigh, Adèle, you are a failure at anything feminine... oh, he said something.

"Eh? Um... I don't know, nothing, I guess..." Everyone else would be busy, she figured, and her family wasn't there, so...

Dan smiled, his head going rather... blank. He was good at talking, normally. He supposed it was the slight nervousness that was getting to him as they got closer to Eir Court by the minute. He hardly had any idea how this was going to go.

Once they stopped in front of the dorms, he shoved his hands in his coat pockets and shrugged a little in an unsure manner.

He gave a short sigh. "I- have to tell you something."

...Well, he was unusually quiet the rest of the way. Maybe it was the cold. Maybe he was sad for some reason? She felt compelled to ask, but the embarrassment spoke louder. He didn't even have to talk to fluster her, how... well, even more embarrassing--

Oh he was talking again.

"Hm?" She turned to face him, raising an eyebrow at the sigh. "What is it?"

He sighed a little again, his gaze darting left and right. Well.

"Promise you won't get mad?" He said, with a sheepish grin.

...Oh great. Now he was going to tell her something that could potentially make her angry. On Christmas Eve.

"...I guess? Kind of hard when I don't know what it is..."

"I can hope, right?"

Well, here goes nothing, he thought, as he leaned down and kissed her on the lips.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!

The only movement she could make were her arms going limp from the shock, the purse she was holding slipping off her fingers and plopping onto the snow. He- he was actually--

If there were to be a string of keyboard smashes to convey what was going through her head at the time, it would be too long to fit into a 500-page book.

He pulled away after a bit, taking in her- well, really shocked expression. He supposed it was unexpected, but he almost felt sorry he did it (except not really).

"...Are you angry yet?" He asked. He wanted to make sure before he said anything else to surprise her even more, if that was possible.

"Wh...whuh..." He hadn't done that even when they ran into one another under mistlet-- wait was there any mistletoe let's... see...

...There was no mistletoe.

"Okay. I guess not. That's good."

He reached down to pick up her purse for her as he talked because looking at her was more embarrassing than he thought. He looked at everywhere else except her now, which must have appeared unusual, but he couldn't really help it.

"I-" he paused for a second. Was he being too straightforward? ...But how else was he supposed to say something like this anyhow? "I really like you. A lot."

For her part, Adèle was looking up at the sky, at the door, at the snow, at her feet, and at her fingers for the few seconds that she covered her (now bright red) face with her hands, before deciding that just covering her lips was better.

At that point she was willing to dismiss anything he said as something else, and well, he said he liked her, that was okay, she liked him too right? And she liked her family and he liked his and she was sure he liked other people too and.

"O..." ...Wait better get her hands off her mouth before speaking yes. "O-okay...?"

"As in," he elaborated, running a hand through his hair, "I would like to date you."

"D...d...d...d...date...?"

Oh come on Adèle, you've had a fiancé before, and he...

...

He never really got you this embarrassed did he oh god what is wrong with you.

He blinked and looked at her for once.

"Like a... boyfriend, girlfriend type of thing?" He found it odd, but thought it couldn't hurt to clarify further. She would have an easier time understanding what he meant, after all.

"N-no, I... I k...know."

...

...

What, was she expected to say something in response? Like actually say something?

...So, some time passed.

He laughed a little, looking abashed. "You don't have to tell me now if you don't want to."

No but that wasn't right, she couldn't just leave him without an answer, that...

...

Why was this so difficult?! She could almost hear Laurent laughing in the background at her utter inability to do something he would've accomplished in secon---

...

...

"I... I will! I'll... I'll date you... I mean..."

...Well, that. Wasn't perfect, but.

"If you're sure." He smiled, encircling his arms around her waist to hug her.

"So when should we have our first date?" He asked, his face leaning comfortably against her head.

"Ye... yes, I'm--" Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek so awkwaaaa--

...

...

AHEM!!

"Wh... whenever you'd... like..." ...

...

Some more ellipses later, she somewhat awkwardly raised her arms to. ...Um. ...Lean on him properly yes that would... suffice. She hoped.

"My parents are here until the 29th," he said, pondering aloud. He stepped back, looking at her eyes. "Sometime after that, unless you're going somewhere?"

You know, this whole leaning business is actually sort of nice and comfy, uh, except it's still very awkward, yes.

"No, I... I'm staying in campus for the holidays." Okay maybe her breathing wasn't so fast anymore and she wasn't shaking anymore and uh well her knees were still sort of weak but hey, improvement!

"I'll call you later, then," he said, putting a hand on her hair and kissing her forehead.

He eyed the doors that lead to Eir. "You should go. I'm sure it's warm inside."

"I'll..." She attempted a smile. "I'll see you later, then."

...And so she went inside the building.
