So, I said I was going to try to post on here more often.
Had rescue today, it was fun, the guy I was with is always amusing to run with, and he's been doing it for 15 years, That means 2 things, one, he won't put up with your bullshit, and 2, he can Drive the ambulance. I mean, I think it's kinda fun to weave in and outta traffic, lights flashing, siren blaring, but I kinda prefer to run at night, cause I'm not confident enough in my driving skills (i.e. the size of my vehicle) to try the thread a needle with the ambulance. He can, and does. Fast :) But still safe. It's cool. Then, 5:15pm ish (my shift is 6 am to 6 pm - or more often 6 pm to 6 am, today was a day shift) we got toned out, and so did what seemed like half the city, which means it's something big, or potentially big. Fire, or big crash. In this case, it was an airport alert. i.e. an airplane was enroute that they weren't sure was going to make the typical perfect landing. Listening to the tac channel we cound out that the plane had a light out, the landing gear. So they weren't sure that the landing gear was going to work. So they called us, (Virginia Beach medic 2, medic 4, ladder 2, engine 4, battalion 2, EMS 5, MCI 1, and maybe some other people, I don't remember, but at least those) and they called Norfolk (essentially the same personal, but coming from the other direction, cause the airport sits half on Va Beach land, half on Norfolk land) it's SOP. But we didn't make it, the plane landed safe and sound before we got there, I'm sure much to the relief of the 28 people on board (plus crew). I really wanted to make it all the way to the airport, mostly because I hadn't been in the Va Beach back way. I had been in the front, and the Norfolk back way (with my old job) but not the Va Beach back way. Oh well. At least no one got hurt (I may be a trauma junkie, but I would never wish a plane crash on anyplace).
And daddy called, to tell me he was postponing his trip out here (for very good reasons), so that Beth would be here, and I would actually have a place to put the furniture he was bringing me.
And I got a call to set up a job interview (yay) but couldn't answer it because I was on a call. Hopefully he gets back to me quicker then he is normally known for. And I applied to a couple part time/PRN jobs to complement those hours. So more $$ to get my apartment :)
Dunno what else to say. What are you guys up to? What do you want to know? I made a dress, to go to a ren fest in, but I don't have anyone to go with. :(
