but there are two forces of good and bad very much a part of my life right now....
Bad:
My basement, meaning my bedroom, was flooded this weekend with all the rain. I lost many clothes, lots of sleep, my sense of smell, design resource books, bills, and my portfolio (biggest loss by far). Awful. My grandfather seems to be on his last legs now. He won't get out of bed, my family is making calls to track down potential visitors it seems; even being able to get a hold of Erich via the Red Cross (bless their hearts) so they could talk. Erich is in Iraq, need I say more about that. I'm starting to fall behind on bills. Partly because they are getting bigger, partly because I can't seem to keep to remember the dates on my budget. Late payments don't help the ol' credit score. My girlfriend lives to far away.
Good:
I have an amazing girlfriend who surprised me with Weezer/Foo Fighter tickets last Friday. I find myself trying to change for the better for her, and it truly feels great. Through incidents and talks with her, I feel I can finally get a grip on the intense anger I have inside of me that loves to rear it's ugly head at the worst times. I have a car that, by the grace of God, has gotten further than I thought it would. My computer didn't fry, so my portfolio CAN be rebuilt, and be rebuilt much better. As my Grandfather starts to make his greatest journey, we are blessed with new life in Ezra and Sammy. Erich, though in Iraq, is almost home. Even if they are large, I can still afford to pay my bills. My job has been going well, and I've been getting great projects to work on. I touched base with a fashion designer in NYC who wants to see my work for some possible freelance.
It's very weird to see these extreme opposite sets of events/things going on. I feel that stepping back, looking things over, and taking an "inventory" sometimes is one tool I have to keeping my head clear and my emotions in check. There's not a damn thing I can do about the outside shit that happens in life other than roll with it....so be it, that's what I'll do.
