It took me a several moments to figure out what the least fav character was. I thought a window pane of glass ... duh! Telford, the skunk. Numa Numa was a hoot. I love the B&W Epilogue too! Look out for Bambi eyes ... I'll just wear a Young mask and hope you'll cave ... 8) Camile has grown on me. Her transformation from bitch of the episode to contributing member of the crew really won me over. After her run in with command in Justice, she had a better perspective. It still took her some more time but I think after Incursion she really had an idea (good one) that she didn't want anything to do with the load Young carries daily.
*And I am fiercely protective of Young and it is not that Camile can get under his skin, but sometimes I feel she has totally no empathy or has no idea how Young operates.*
Oh, but I think that's part of her charm, if you will. She knows bureaucrats, can deal with them all day long, but the military mind is in another galaxy to her way of thinking. She had no clue what leading meant until she dealt with it in Justice. And that wasn't for very long at all.
I think she likes to state the obvious just so that everyone is on her page. It's part of those "active" listening skills they train you for customer service. However for Camile, at least in the beginning, she wanted everyone to follow her lead, the civilian bureaucrat government hodgepodge that we deal with today in DC.
oh, and I love your icon! TJ looked absolutely beautiful on Novus in the pre-ALS days. She was just clearly happy and blooming. Well, if Young were my partner, I guess I would be blooming too (I am afraid prettiness is genetic...). LOL.
I agree! She's absolutely gorgeous. Country Life really becomes her here. And with the peach she's got herself at home, well, of course any wallflower would turn into a rose. Not that she was ever one before, but golly gee, she's a beautiful woman. I would totally shag her, too.
Oh boy, if Young were my partner, I'd hope to have several babies under my wing.
Yes, she really did seem extremely pleased on Novus. That's what made the ALS so devastating. And they care he gave her. I can just see him crying his eyes out somewhere away from the kids - deep in the woods where he can rage and shout his curses as roughly as he could.
Oh! That sounded very much like a plot bunny munching on my flowers.
The thought that terrifies me is that Young actually did not go out to the forest to rage and just bottled it up the way he bottled up his guilt after arriving to Novus. I know that after Episode I was like, damn, Young cannot be happy for good even in an alternate reality.
I'm with you on this. Young would probably not allow himself the release of rage. He would internalize it and suffer quietly, having to be strong for his children and the community he has sworn to lead. Self-indulgence, even in suffering, is not really Young's way of life. Which is why life uses him as a punching bag all the time...
Oh there's too much loss there for it to ever be gone. And as we saw in the episode, he never really recovers from that loss. As a human being though, there comes a point where you just can't take it anymore.
Put it this way - in Malice, Rush raged and internalized his anger/horror at Simeon and went out and took care of the problem. Put Young in that same premise with TJ having been killed by Simeon, no one would be able to keep him aboard Destiny. He'd hunt that bastard down. On Novus, Young had no one to battle. You can't beat genetics. But everyone has to vent at some point. Maybe not immediately but eventually, in order to maintain his mental health Young would have to rage. It would be very private. If anything, Camile might know he'd vented. Either she'll see the event or recognize the aftereffects in him.
But somehow this is so romantic. (I must admit I am fed up with today's culture where supposedly a manly man is someone who talks about his feelings all the time and whines like a baby.)
I'm not sure I believe this or not, but they say life does not burden you with things you can't carry.
What I also find beautiful is that some actually understand this side of Young and does not want to change him. Strangely, I think Chole is one of them.
I think you're on to something here. Young was always upfront with Chloe, he never coddled her, she's one of his crew. I think she respects that. When she rants about him in "Divided" I always hear Camile talking, not Chloe.
I think Chloe was fantastic both in "Deliverance" (the kiss) and in "Epilogue" when Young was dying. In each case it was obvious that she loves Young (I mean the way you love your father not the way she loves Scott) in a sort of very cute way. They did not need talk about it. It was just there.
YES!! That kiss was so sweet, and it showed how much of an adult she had become - and I think she learned some aspects of self-sacrifice from Young. They respect each other, and I think she may also look to him as a father figure - a tougher more no-nonsense dad, but a father nonetheless.
I also loved her way with Young in Trial and Error. Somehow by then Chloe grew up and understood Young and how hard it is for him to verbalize his emotions and it was so cute she did it for him.
You hit the nail on the head there. I think this is what Young wanted to do - hug her like a daughter, and she made it easy for him. He was so moved by her kiss, I just knew he understood.
