Gil Grissom has some secrets.
Before coming to Vegas he was in a relationship with a man for a few years. The relationship turned abusive and after numerous failed attempts at leaving, Grissom finally escapes--his ex never knowing where he went.
Grissom's life quickly turns routine, and he's happy about that having long ago learned to hate surprises thanks to his ex-lover's tantrums.
He finds himself falling for Nick, but not wanting to act on it. His last relationship leaving a bad taste in his mouth at the idea of starting another one.
Then suddenly Nick goes missing and only Grissom will be able to find him. His ex has found him, been watching him for a while--studying his habits, watching his team from afar. Knowing Grissom so well, he easily sees Gil's feelings for Nick and turns them into an opportunity to show Gil Grissom that no one leaves him unless he wants them to.
He kidnaps Nick--taunting the young man. Telling him that the reason Gil hired him wasn't because of his skills but his ass. Revealing things about Grissom's past that Nick had not even the slightest inkling of. Then taunting Nick telling him he knows his deep dark secret--has been watching him and knows that Nick has feelings for Gil.
He tells Nick that he plans to use him to get back at Grissom before he shows Gil just what happens to people that leave him.
