For the first time in over eight arns, the Leviathan's corridors were silent. The DRDs that had gone into hiding were now starting to come out, curious to see the new arrival. Pilot's voice broke the silence a moment later, calling out over the comms.
"Officer Sun? Crichton?"
Inside the medical bay, there was a flurry of activity. "It's over, Pilot," Aeryn called out as she pressed a damn towel to Catherine's forehead. Behind her, John and Grissom were tending to the newborn.
"Grissom?" Catherine asked between heavy breaths, trying to sit up before Aeryn pushed her back down. A moment later, the men turned and John helped place the little girl in her father's arms. Grissom stared his daughter for a moment before glancing over to Catherine. Watching his step, the former CSI moved across the room and stopped next to the bed.
"Gil..." Catherine started as she held her arms out. Grissom sat on the side of the bed, facing her, and carefully passed the baby over. Catherine was crying before her new daughter was in her arms, partially from exhaustion, but also because she suddenly had a yearning for her older daughter.
As the small warm body settled against her chest, Catherine couldn't help but laugh. Grissom pushed her hair off her face and then kissed his wife's forehead. "Love you," he whispered.
Aeryn moved away from the bed and leaned into her husband's arms. "Glad you only had to suffer a week?" John whispered against her neck and then smiled as she nudged his stomach with her elbow. "When are we gonna start planning the wedding?" he asked in a louder voice, so that Catherine and Grissom could hear him.
"When she's fifty," Grissom repeated without missing a beat, watching the baby's tiny fingers flexing against the hem of Catherine's collar. John groaned and nudged Aeryn's hip. He nodded toward the corridor, silently suggesting that they give the new family some time alone.
Back at the bed, Catherine reached up and placed her finger under the tiny hand, smiling when the baby's fingers closed around it. Leaning forward, Catherine pressed a light kiss to the top of the bald head and then looked at her husband. With one hand holding the baby in place, Catherine reached for Grissom's shirt and pulled him close for a proper kiss.
Grissom gladly offered the kiss before shifting his weight so that he could join the girls on the bed. They both watched the little girl squirm for a moment, before the low whistle of a DRD caught their attention. Grissom shifted again and pointed to the baby. "Give Moya and Pilot a look," he requested, knowing that the image the little robot transmitted would give the Leviathan and her pilot a view.
A warm-sounding thump from above, paired with a slight flickering of the lights, made both of them smile, as it was clear that Moya was happy with her newest crew member. Grissom kissed Catherine again and rested his finger over the back of the newborn's hand.
"I guess this is what we get for only picking boy names," Grissom whispered a moment later. Catherine laughed for a moment and then started crying again.
