Finding Moya

Apr 05, 2013 12:51

Catherine sat in the transport pod as they flew between Talyn and Moya. She had her hand on Grissom's shoulder, just feeling him helped to calm her nerves. What would the rest of Aeryn's friends be like? Would they accept another two humans? And finally the knowledge that getting back to Moya meant that she and Gil really weren't going back home. Grissom watched out the viewport as they did the fly-by. The ship - Talyn's mother - was huge. He could feel the slight tensing of Catherine's fingers on his shoulder, but he didn't turn to check on her. His eyes, instead, were on Aeryn, who had gone almost rigid.

Catherine watched Aeryn, knowing why she stiffened. She leaned to Grissom and whispered, "the other John is there, I can't imagine how she's feeling right now."

Grissom turned his head just enough to let her know that he was in agreement. "Is there anything we can say?" Catherine was the people person; he wasn't.

Catherine shook her head lightly. "I told her she could come to me if she needed to talk. All we can do for her right now is give her the space and let her come to us."

She hesitated a moment. "This kind of drives it home that we're here to stay."

Grissom nodded and threw a glance to Crais. The other man had implied that they might have to run interference between John and Aeryn, though using different word, and Grissom had agreed to do whatever was needed. He might not have been the best backup for Catherine, but he really did care about Aeryn. If she asked him to, he would stand guard in front of her door as long as he needed to.

He also wasn't sure what to say to Catherine about getting back home. Crais and Aeryn had both told them that they would do everything they could to get them back, but without knowing where they were, it might take some time.

"Is Talyn going to be all right on his own?" Grissom asked a moment later. They'd already been over this, but he couldn't help but feel concern for the 'little guy', as Catherine had called him.

"Talyn will be fine." Crais explained, "I can hear his thoughts no matter where I am." He nodded, "and this will give him a chance to reconnect with Moya."

With that comment, Crais moved the transport pod into position and eased into Moya's hangar bay. He deftly set it down, shut off the engines and opened the door. He knew that John would be meeting the shuttle, so he sent Rygel out first and told Catherine and Grissom to follow him out. That would leave Aeryn to egress at her own pace.

As he reached the bottom of the stairs, he nodded to John, then turned slightly, "This is Doctor Gil Grissom and Catherine Willows. We ... unintentionally brought them along after a wormhole threw us too close to your planet." He sighed, "I will ... explain more later."

John wasn't sure who he was more excited to see - Aeryn or the two Earthlings Pilot had mentioned. He gave both Grissom and Catherine a nod, then offered his hand. "John Crichton." With a look to Crais, he nodded again. "Earth, huh? Did I get a tan?" he asked with a slight chuckle.

He didn't notice the look Crais forced.

Crais just lightly shook his head at John and then turned to his two new friends. "Rygel is just around the corner. I'll be there momentarily."

He could see that Crichton was watching the two newcomers and then turned expectantly toward the pod. As Aeryn exited and stepped toward the corridor, he approached Crichton and explained. He gave the man the other John's bag.

"I need to see that our new passengers are settled."

He left Crichton standing alone as he walked away.

"Officer .. Aeryn. I will go and update Pilot and Moya on Talyn's well-being."

Rygel had already taken off, insisting he needed to check the status of his belongings. Catherine was only worried about Aeryn at the moment... as well as keeping Grissom's hands off of everything. When Aeryn came around the corner, Catherine fell into step behind her. "Aeryn.. Aeryn," she said, hurrying slightly to keep up with the brunette's determined stride. "Honey, please," she managed before diving in front of Aeryn and putting her hands up.

She knew better than anyone when not to push, but she was still worried for her friend. "Just, tell me that you're okay, okay?" It was all Catherine could do to focus on Aeryn, instead of the fact they were on a much larger spaceship.

She stopped and breathed in the want to push away and keep moving. "I ... will be fine." She tried to keep the bite out of her voice. She knew Catherine cared and only wanted to help. But at the moment, Crichton was the last person she wanted to think about.

"I will see that you have quarters." She stepped around Catherine and moved forward. "Crais, can you take them to Pilot's den and introduce them. And have Pilot see that they have quarters next to each other."

Grissom pulled Catherine back and nodded to Aeryn. "You need us," he started, but didn't finish. They'd already talked before leaving Talyn, so he knew that she was aware of the offer he'd made.

With a nod to Crais, Grissom tugged on Catherine's arm. "C'mon, Cath. Let her go," he whispered.

Catherine took a deep breath and watched Aeryn as she walked away. "I know."

She took a breath and turned to Crais with a smile, "take us to your leader." She joked, even though she doubted the man would get it.

As they followed Crais down the corridor, Grissom couldn't help but notice that they were being followed - at a distance - by a growing number of DRDs. Well, he assumed they were DRDs, but they didn't look anything like the little robots onboard Talyn.

"Cath," he whispered, then inclined his head back. "I'm starting to feel like the Pied Piper.."

Catherine glanced back and saw the parade of yellow, she assumed, DRDs. She nodded to Crais, "They know we're harmless, right?" She asked, gesturing to the bright parade behind them.

Crais looked back and saw the DRDs. "It would seem Moya is curious."

He made a turn down another corridor and noted, "We're nearly at Pilot's Den." He made another turn and walked through a wide door. "Do watch your step on the walkway. There are no sides and it is a long drop down.:

Grissom eyed the oddly-shaped doorway as it opened, then stepped in. It took another second for him to realize why Crais had warned them about the drop. "Damn," he breathed, then glanced up to see where he had gone.
