Title: And the Line in Between

(Author's note: I understand that there are a few people who are against in writing ficss related to the strike. If this is the case, then it's okay with me to delete this entry. Also, I wrote this out of sheer willpower inspiration.)
--------
Jack tells her that he did his best to convince the other NBC executives. He did, really. He went throught great lengths of explaining (something Jack Donaghy doesn't normally do), but still, no luck.
"Okay fine. We'll do this thing. Really Jack, we will." Liz says this with conviction. She leaves his office without a blink. That's probably the last time he'll see her.
--------
Liz stands outside 30 Rock, with a picket sign in her hands and a yearning to be with Jack in her heart. He did do the best he can do, and she admires him for that. But since the others were subborn, she and her fellow writers had to put their feet down.
Together with Pete, Toofer, Lutz, Frank and her other writers, they picket to their hearts' content. Josh, Jenna and Tracy soon followed suit, with Tracy holding up a sign which reads "GIVE 'EM WRITERS A BRAKE!" Half of her wants to correct that sign, but, this is a strike after all, so yeah.
She wonders how Jack is doing.
--------
Jack is not doing good. At least that's what his brain tells him and his heart wholeheartedly agrees. He walks by the studio, and imagines The Girly Show in production. He visualizes Liz, being proud about her show. His mind wanders away to how she'll animatedly narrate everything to him, all while leaning towards him and sipping some red wine with him.
His mind, of course, starts to tread to other territories, but his thoughts are soon broken when he hears a sniffle. He traces the source, and finds Kenneth sobbing faintly. Jack asks him if he is all right (again, something he usually doesn't do) and Kenneth gracefully wipes his tears, just like any page would do.
Without preamble, Kenneth tells him how he misses everyone, especially Tracy and his insane tasks. Jack secretly sympathizes with him, and in his usual "I-am-Jack-Donaghy.I-am-your-boss" manner, he tells Kenneth to "Just do what the right thing wants you to do. At first, it doesn't make any sense to Jack, even though the words were his. But there is sense in these words for Kenneth. Jack is okay with that.
So when he watches the page run towards the exit, he wonders if the microwave division is near to him and if it's actually worth the risk. (It is, his brain tells him.)
--------
Liz' stomach is growling. Duh, that's what you get when you forget to eat beforehand. She gladly accepts the waffles Pete's offering, and remembers how Jack quasi-hated waffles. But then, he makes them for her every morning, just because she likes them and really, he just loves her.
Of course, the last part was only hypothetical in nature. It's either that or they're just extremely friendly towards each other.
But of course there's love. Why else would he go through forced meetings with the other executives?
God, how she miss him. And it's only day one.
--------
Jonathan tells him that the TGS writers are hungry, according to the grapevine. So Jack orders around twelve boxes, one of which is peperroni and cheese. He orders that the twelve would go straight to his office. Jonathan's heart breaks, as he knows that a stress-eating Jack Donaghy is stressed beyond control.
--------
"Eleven pizzas, complements of Kenneth Parcell." the delivery boy tells the writers, to which they respond by grabbing the boxes from the guy. Some of them remember to thank Kenneth. Kenneth, on the other hand, wants to tell them something, but the "surprisingly low for a Pizza Guy's" voice tells him to play along. When he saw Mr. Donaghy's eyes, he understands.
The delivery boy walks to Liz, and hands her the box. Their eyes meet, and both smile. A quick touch, then he leaves.
"I miss you." The note says in red ink and in Jack's unreadable-ish writing.
God, how he ached for her, and she for him.
--------
It's already day five, and Jack's already in despair. He waits for around three hours for Liz to come home, and about one hour more for Pete to take his evening bath.
He knocks on her door, and kisses her the moment she answers.
She the one who pulls away first, and tells him sadly, "I can't see you yet." Jack understands, and reaches for her face. He leans toward his hand, relishing his touch. But when Pete opens the bathroom door, she moves away, and mutters a hasty "I love you."
On the ride back home, Jack is now more determined than ever to end the strike. Even if it means stranggling the life out of Murdoch and Moonvest.
