I've been reading randomness. What brought me to the internet searching, this time, was the 'Bomb Threat' for UCR grad ceremony on for Friday.

There was a security measure that was absolutely absurd from what I've gathered. They refused to allow anyone even so much as a water bottle (store bought) inside. This is even if you drink half of the thing in front of them.

Now here is the major peeve I had.

This year's Nobel peace prize was won by a UCR chemistry alumni. UCR's chem dept. is pretty well known outside of this as well. So that being said, they also have a fantastic bio dept.

Now there are no known incendiaries (that i could find online, in any articles, periodicals, etc) that can be consumed without immediate effects, let alone be identified immediately upon sight.

In fact, the only drinkable clear liquid that will burn is alcohol, and that is pretty easily identified.

Now, since you have to throw all your water away, you would assume that they would provide water for those elderly and in need who have to sit in the sun for the next two hours.

If you did, you thought wrong.

The bastards made you pay vending machine prices for the water.

So, there only real basis, after showing that if the water was some sort of catalyst (which is apparent that they were not thinking that far ahead, or in depth), and then they go selling the stuff, only shows that there was no grounds for this security precaution.

If you have any input, or proof for this matter, gimme a call, or respond, because if i'm wrong, great, show me the proof. But if i'm right, then UCR security has been proven to be a bunch of idiots, and I'm planning on going ahead with writing an article about this and submitting it to the highlander, and/or the press enterprise (after grammar and spell checking that one, of course :)

This was just a blargh
