I woke up at seven, wrote down the dream (friend-locked here), ate breakfast, started the story.
THIS IS THE BEST KIND OF MORNING.
Not what I planned, but still FABOOSH!
Word Count, Three Hours Later: 1185
TITLE: The Twice-Drowned Saint
or, The Ghost Who Bled Coins
Being a Tale of Gelethel: The Angelic City
...Wherein most of the word count is the title.
...Nevertheless.
...EXCITED!!!
It's so snarky, and yet also so sad, and it takes place in the same world as GODMOTHER LIZARD and LIFE ON THE SUN, only a few centuries later, so I can have TANKS and CINEMAS!!! I love it.
Why am I writing it? I meant to be writing something else entirely. Rust: A Ghost Story. Which I love. Which DESERVES ME TO WORK ON IT.
But then again maybe something else (something very specific, fingers crossed) needs to happen before I can finish writing RUST, which, let's face it, has waited this long (at least a decade, in one form or another) and can wait a little longer.
The reason? Starts with an M and ends with an Acbeth. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I am reminded that RUST began with a dream. So did Martyr's Gem. So did Ten Cigars. And Godmother Lizard. And Life on the Sun. Did "Milkmaid" as well? Now I cannot remember. (It's good to know that SOME stories come from being AWAKE. "Bone Swans" did anyway. Reassuring.)
Also, I must remind myself that Martyr's Gem was started at the beginning of one year and not finished till the beginning of the next year, with many things written between. I must remind myself that I'm allowed to have projects, so long as I also have some evidence of FINISHING THEM.
I have finished many things. I must remind myself of this.
And I barely got to write all summer. And now it is September, which means I have at least six months of (penury) writing time. My brain is waking up, even as it sleeps.
This is good, good, good.
But I must not freak out.
Nothing good withheld from me.
This story is gonna be awesome.
I am so happy.
And a little scared.
