Oswalda Again

Apr 10, 2013 08:33

I am having Oswalda story-brain symptoms, and yesterday at work, I HATCHED A PLOT.

But it's science fiction. Which... Which I'm not really good at writing. Because I don't have enough SCIENCE!

What I would like, very much, is to have coffee/tea/hot chocolate with a geneticist and an astrophysicist who both are TOTAL sci-fi geeks and who wouldn't mind world-building with me.

Or good websites or accessible books for the lay-person on the science behind science fiction. I think I have a book on terraforming at home...

But I need, like, info on INTERSTELLAR TRAVEL POSSIBILITIES and, and... the intersections of genetics with computers. How much actual genetic STUFF would you need to have a library of all the creatures of this planet, and how much of it would be strings of code? And if you only had the code, could you BUILD the stuff out of any old molecule combinations?

Bah. BAH! I should leave it for the smart people.

EXCEPT I HAVE THE NEATEST IDEA AND CHARACTERS AND THEY WANT TO BE SCIENCE FICTION AND THEY WILL BREAK MY HEAD IF I DON'T BUILD THEM A UNIVERSE TO PLAY IN.

So demanding.

Anyway, it's for the future. I have to finish Miscellaneous Stones first. And Oswalda is a short story. (HA!) Novella. Maybe a series. I don't know! DON'T ASK ME.

But I love her. And him, when he's being Oswald instead.
