medieval day!

Last Friday was Medieval Day at the girl's school. We made the green overdress together and she made the little pouch herself. She didn't want me to come to the actual even, sadly, but it seems to have involved snacking on shortbread cookies and orange slices and parading around the blacktop. You know, as one did in the Middle Ages.

I also went and watched the jog-a-thon at the boy's school. They tried a relay format this year, which seemed to lead to a significant uptick in injuries as the kids tripped over each other during the baton hand-offs. And also, each kid only ran like two laps of the little track in the end, which is dumb. Oh well. The boy's best friend was trying to run with his very cute raccoon hat with long dangly earflaps tied around his waist and he went down hard and skinned both knees. It's a pretty hard core event, yeah?

On the home front, I've been trying to get a new mattress + mattress topper combo figured out for our room for the last few weeks so that I can maybe get some sleep and not wake up feeling like I've been beaten with sticks. Last night was the first good night of sleep in like 6 months!! I felt like Superwoman when I got up this morning. Now I just need to figure out what to do with the two mattress toppers we're not keeping...
