Sunday - Goin Gantting!

Sep 06, 2004 15:01

11 a.m. I roll out of bed and reluctantly take a shower, cause it is kindof pointless to shower before getting in a lake. But I'm sure the other 7 folks in the vehicle for the hour and a half trip appreciated my concern for hygiene. I let my hair dry naturally and do its curl thing.. I've been getting lazy and doing that a lot. Andy got here at 12:30, like he claimed he would. We picked up our crew for this particular trip.. Hunter, Thomas, Dana, Anderson.. went by Andy's and hooked up the jet ski.., and then Rebecca and her coolers and stuff.. and headed out.
*OKAY, interruption.. Dad just ticked Mom off and now she won't let me spend time with Sam her last 3 hours in Monroeville.. I HATE when she takes out her frustration on me. What could it possibly hurt to let me hang out with her?*
So we ride up there, it seemed like it took forever going. Dana called every person on my cell phone's contact list. Only like 1 or 2 answered, but I'm sure half of them saw a missed call from Candace and were like WTF? that girl never calls me..lol, oh well.. Then it was slow getting started cause we had to unload the jet ski at the slope place, then go to his grandparents house where the boat dock is and unload the coolers and life jackets and junk, say hey to his grandparents, blow up the Big Berthas, etc. etc. Then Chase and Chris (Ft. Dale folks) came over on Chase's jet ski to hang with us. We got on tubes by 3 I would say. It started out with Andy, Thomas, and myself on one and Chase and Hunter on the other. Eventually Thomas got tired and went back to the boat. As did Hunter. Chris got on with Chase. They went for a quite a while and then Chase got tired. Hunter got back on. People went off and on that other tube. Usually they were mercilessly thrown from it, but sometimes they just got tired. The lake was windy, and busy.. and the water was rough. Plus Mrs. Jody was trying to kill us I do believe. Doing those turns that fling you really wide out and then almost stop before it gets fast again to swing you back the other way and the tension in the rope gets so tight and you hit the waves from the turn before and then WHAM the rope pulls up the slack and flings you over it. Andy and I never fell off once. We are beasts. Granted, half the time I wasn't actually on the tube and the only thing keeping me out of the water was Andy holding me by my life jacket straps.. But I saved him a few times too. Like once it flung him forward and his head went down in the center and under the sides and it was so slippery you can't get out from under there. I pulled him out; He'd have died. I'm a hero. WuBWuB. The day murdered my volleyball injury.. but it is recuperating. After 2 or so hours of tubing we were beat.. me especially. So we just sorta layed on the dock and hung out for an hour waiting on the pizzas to be cooked. We ate, watched Hunter mess with my camera and attempt to video us, ate more, layed around, would've eaten more- but Thomas ate the entire pizza that time around, rode jet skis, blah blah. When it started getting darker Thomas skiid for a little bit, Hunter was the only one that road in the boat and watched. Hehe. I think Andy skiid some too. Chase and Chris had to leave and we told them buhbye. Then we pulled out the knee board and everyone loaded up in the boat for a final run. Andy was originally the only one who was going to go, but I kinda wanted to and Dana convinced me I should. That girl is so persuasive. I did, and attempted to do what Andy and I always attempt to do on a kneeboard - try to get more air than the other when we wipe out. I won, hands down. He went almost the length of the wake across.. but I went straight up.. and came straight back down on my head. Nose dive, major. My neck is still killin meh. As I was floating there waiting for them to turn around and get me.. My head hurt so bad I was shaking.. I like had a seizure. lol. But it calmed down by the time they got back to me and I climbed up in the boat. It was late and we had already let it get too dark for Andy to be able to see to drive the jet ski back to the slope. But he made it, and Mrs. Jody somehow backed down it in the dark. It was tough work. The ride home was much more exciting than the one up there. We stopped at a gas station and bought like $15 worth of candy. Andy traded places with Hunter so that he could sit in the back with me and torment me. I simply cannot handle the "cow eats the corn" thing people do to one's knee. It makes my whole body spasm. But it is okay, because he is very ticklish. We got everyone back safely and we're at my house by 10:30. Andy helped me clean out the mega major mayhem of a mess we made in my mom's vehicle. I thanked the kind Mrs. Jody for our entertaining day.. and limped into the house. Soreness came upon me abundantly. Glad I didn't have football practice at 8 this morning like the boys. I slept till like 11. =) Ode to joy.
