I'm going to be as vague as possible about this so I won't spoil anybody, though honestly, how could anyone who's seen/read Kino and seen the trailer NOT expect there to be a dark side to this story?
Some months ago, I got my mom to read me the Sick Country chapter in the Kino novels, because it's the story that the new movie is going to be adapting. Afterwards I felt rather underwelmed. Not a whole lot happened in it, and the action scene was very short. While it wasn't exactly bad, there were many other stories that I would have preferred seeing animated.
But now, I was just listening to the song "Bird" (thank you for uploading it
ming_ling!), and when I actually paid attention to the lyrics, it suddenly struck me just how SAD the story is. The song, which I assume is from Inertia's POV, is so full of light and hope. And knowing the truth behind it.....it's just so effective. If this plays at the end of the movie, I may start crying.
Now I understand why they picked this story. Once animated, I'm sure it'll be even more effective. The writing style of the novels is so blunt and the dialogue didn't go into too many details, but once these things are put into images..... ;__; Yeah...I think this is going to be a good movie.
EDIT: Completely unrelated, but HELLSING OVA III IS GOING TO BE
SO AWESOME.
