} Overall Thoughts;

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?: I started my first backpacking trip this year and hadn't planned to write much if any fic this year at all, so managing what I have feels like a pretty great achievement for this year. I've felt really inspired this year and I think the change of scenery/lifestyle has been a huge influence as to my inspiration. In particular, I've made huge leaps towards finishing my first original piece which I hope to one day submit for publication. So, all in all, it's been better than expected.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?: Bones. I'd never felt particularly inspired to write for this fandom before, despite my love of the show, but I read a crossover between Bones/Criminal Minds and had the urge to write a wee coda for the author which I was really quite proud of.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?: I'd love to finish up my original story [ Amanzimtoti ] this new year coming. I've been working on it for a while now, but since participating in NaNoWriMo 2014 I feel like I'm close to finishing the beast for the first time in a long while!

My best story of this year: I always find this one difficult to answer. Perhaps it's the word 'best', certainly my favourite story this year was
a downward spiral (
) [ Spencer Reid/Aaron Hotchner | PG/13 | 2422words ]
Mostly because I'd wanted to write this story during season 7 of the show but it wasn't until I reached Wellington, NZ that I found the inspiration to put the vague idea I had down onto the page after watching the new season.

My most popular story of this year:
in somnis veritas (in sleep, there is truth) (
) [ Arthur/Eames | R/18-Rated | 11,000words approx. | artwork by lauand]
I hadn't realised just how much I missed Inception fandom until I saw the sign-ups for the i_reversebang were open back in July. Since completing this challenge I've been inspired to plan out a few more Inception stories and I hope to share those with you come the new year (real life pending, as usual ;D)

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I'm not really sure this question applies this year. Certainly my ' A Question of Coffee' series isn't the most popular, but it's a rare-pair series and one I started for my own pleasure, so I'm beyond happy with the attention it has already recieved in the fandom.

Most fun story to write:  The last time I answered this question was back in 2012 and it was in reference to the first fic I wrote for the ' A Question of Coffee' series:
Quote "[...]because these boys were so adorable to write together and I can’t believe no one else has tried exploring the possibility of Reid/Sean Hotchner! I added another story to this ‘verse’ but I wish I’d gotten around to adding more, especially more that focus on the relationship I want them to have together. Who knows, maybe this year!"
I'm pleased to say that this year I did infact get around to adding more, and finished the series off with four parts all in :D

Story with the single sexiest moment: At a push I guess
working your fingers to the bone (
) [ Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | U-Rated | 1000words approx. ]
gets this one. Though I don't feel that I wrote anything particulary 'sexy' at all this year. I'm slacking I think! Maybe I'll make a pledge to rectify this come the new year!

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I'm definitely slacking if I can't even answer this question! ;)

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters & Hardest story to write:
37 stitches [Whitechapel | Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | PG/13 | 61,000words approx. ]
It took me an entire year to write this 5-part series, and as much as I loved the show, the characters, even the story itself, it was a struggle at times writing all the emotional and physical issues I had Emerson Kent dealing with. I think a part of this stems from me being in part a 'method author', I was effectively getting into Kent's headspace and feeling the depression I'd bestowed upon him in a way I hadn't felt since my own dark days battling with the illness. It became a struggle to pull myself out of the headspace and a struggle to force myself back into it which is why the entire process took so long. I'm proud to say I managed to maintain my own strength of character during the writing of this series, and any slip-backs into old habits I felt, I channelled into the story and managed to use Kent as my outlet.

Biggest Surprise:
37 stitches [Whitechapel | Joseph Chandler/Emerson Kent | PG/13 | 61,000words approx. ]
Quote 2012: "That I started writing a ‘verse’ of stories based on a wee coda I wrote for Whitechapel! I never thought my love of Kent could inspire [multiple] fics with [more] to follow, but I’ve really enjoyed exploring Kent’s character and how I imagine a relationship (or sorts) with Chandler would develop."

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
Amanzimtoti [WIP | 53,537words written this year, approx. 80,000words total ]
Quote 2012: "Is not one I’ve shared with you all yet. But this year I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo and my story for that, though not biographical by any means, draws heavily on the prejudices I was lead to believe in as a child regarding religion and sexuality. I didn’t realise at the time I was writing it just how much of my younger self my lead character was channelling until I read over what I’d managed to achieve. I guess that explains why at times I found it so hard to write. Maybe one day I’ll even complete it and be able to share it with you all."
This still reads true but I'm alot closer to realising my dream of completing the story this year, which I'm overwhelmingly proud of myself for.

Story I haven't yet written, but intend to:
Labrinth [ Inception | Arthur/Eames | R/18-rated ] Inspired in part by a story I'd originally wanted to write for the Supernatural fandom, and some artwork I saw in concept for the Inception reverse bang this year, it's a story that will focus on the team infiltrating the mind of a comatose serial killer in order to discover the whereabouts of his latest victims. Pretty dark and gritty, but I'm inlove with the idea and what I've managed to write of the story thus far.

In conclusion:
I wrote 9 fandom fics totalling around 20,000words, and 1 original fic totalling around 54,000words, for an overall total word count this year of approximately 74,000words!!!

I think this is the most I've ever managed to achieve in a year, which is beyond amazing considering the fact that I'm currently backpacking my way around a whole new country! Still, when inspiration hits... ;)

Fingers crossed I keep it up this new year coming!
