Supernatural: Was Heavenly Intervention Planned From The Start? [NO SPOILERS]

Mar 26, 2009 22:41

I recently started re-watching Supernatural and got on to episode 1.12 Faith this evening. I wasn’t paying all that much attention, mostly watching it as a background whilst I trudged my way through another soul-destroying essay question for my dispensing medicines NVQ3 when all of a sudden I’m hearing something and then I’m sitting up and I’m ( Read more... )

I agree with Kripke, Faith is one of my favorite episodes, because its the first time we acknowledge the existence of a God AND we get to see vunerable Dean and that Winchester mentality of doing anything for each other to keep them alive.

I'm really glad you pointed this out because I've been sort of wondering if they were planning this all from the start or not, and clearly they have! I love this show, and its epic writers and foreshadowing!!

I remember liking the episode the first time I saw it but didn't really remember the specifics, not until I started rewacthing things anyway. It's exciting to think that Kripke might've planned this whole arc from the very beginning :D

I think that in Faith, Dean was possibly on the verge of having faith, there was still the doubt even though he was healed and I think if the nurse hadn't told him about the other man dying he might've started to believe. I'm wondering if having found out the whole thing was a fraud just cemented Dean's belief that a God does not exist. If I recall he battles with Sam on this belief in more than just this episode?

But yeah, running off a bit there XD ...this show rocks me so hard <33

It is really exciting if Kripke has known from the very start of the show that he wanted the boys in the middle of the Apcolypse, fighting against each other, with angels and demons thrown in there, when we all thought it was just an awesomely badass show about ghosts! LOL! (of course we've always known its more then that...) Its pretty intense! And shows what great writing and planning this show has, for it all to come together now.

I think that if they had just left Roy's compound without any other questions or doctors visits Dean would have had faith in miracles and God. But being who he is, he had to investigate it and he uncovered the not so holy truth. The episode I thought of when Castiel first showed up was Houses of the Holy where an "angel" is killing people, but we find out it really just a spirit, and we find out that Sam has always had faith, while Dean has not. And we think there is no such thing as angels...hmmmm...

Haha, now I was the one running off! AHH! I just love this show, I could go on forever!

...so you think the boys will end up fighting one another then? ;) I'm rather partial to that line of thinking myself actually, I think it'd be pretty kick-ass, though of course they'd need to find some way to be together again, I'd hate to have them separated forever well unless Castiel is taking Sam's place, but I think that's a rather blasphemous thought where SPN is concerned XD

I would love to meet Kripke, maybe even when the whole thing was over to ask him. I mean it blows the mind just thinking about the whole thing. It also makes me wonder just what they'll have in store for season five, since I'm assuming they're going to finale this one with the Dean vs Sam idea? (Unless S5 shows the Dean vs Sam... hummm!!!)

Yes! That's the episode I was thinking of! The one with the angel that isn't an angel. I felt so sorry for Sam when they found out it wasn't a real one :(( bless. I love the irony in having Sam the believer but Dean the chosen one.

heh. Tangents are good! It's great being able to conspire with other fans XD

Yeah, I really feel that is the way the show is going. You can feel the tension between them espcially when Sam sneaks off and goes all Edward Cullen (but nastey!) on Ruby, and thinks Dean doesnt notice. I'd hate to see them become separated forever, but I have a feeling there is going to be a big confrontation. As for your other thought...HMMMMMMM I'm sort of pissed right now at Sam so that doesnt seem as blasphemous as it should, and I love Castiel...But it would be a completely different show without that Sam/Dean dynamic. It would get all slashy with Dean/Casteil...LOL ( ... )

It would get all slashy with Dean/Casteil...Huh, you say that like it'd be a bad thing ;) ...lmao. But yeah, I don't want the brothers seperated long term, just maybe enough to inspire some hard-core angst. And then get them back together again. Minus the "Edward Cullen" wannabe factor. You know before that moment I'd though "that Ruby chick? not that bad. I think she really wants to help out" But now? Humm. Even with good intentions I think she's leading Sam down a path he's (maybe even she's) not quite ready for ( ... )
