My relationship with the mountains can be best described by the following quote:
Last year I have hiked 116 miles, this year this number has almost doubled to a total of 197 miles. When I'm on the trail, I feel like I can keep walking forever. I'm always so sad to have to turn around once the peak is scaled, as I see other mountain ranges ahead...
The level of accomplishment that I get from hiking is unparalleled: after eons of grunting and pushing ahead, I scale the peak, to be rewarded by the most beautiful views on earth! I get to soak in all the glory of this world and feel how insignificant the everyday worries are! I get to completely disconnect from the virtual world and rediscover myself and my inner peace on the trails of the parks! And after every ascend, I realize that I can go even further, see even more! So every time I come back, the question on my lips is: "When are we going again?"
Happy Mountain Day to the like-minded, to those fortunate to experience the great pull of the mountains themselves! :-)
