So, out here it generally doesn't get cold enough for a ski jacket, and last winter I got by mostly with my Coca-Cola zip-up sweater jacket. However, I didn't like the hood when I was wearing my backpack. Now that it's starting to chill down again, I've been keeping an eye out for a sweater that has a full zipper in the front (don't want to pull it over my head) that isn't a hoodie. And I'm finding that combination to be very rare. The college bookstore had one, but it looked like crap (purposefully made to look as if it was worn inside-out and tattered - I mean, why?).
I looked in the college bookstore again last night. On a wall away from where the rest of the sweaters were I found what I thought I was looking for. Three different styles - one black, one tan, one blue - that were all full zippers and didn't have hoods. They seemed a little bit thinner than what I wanted, but was seriously considering them. So I looked for a size Large on the blues - wait a minute, this one has a hood. Was I wrong that these weren't hoodies? No, the one in the front didn't have a hood. Turns out, the XLs and XXLs didn't have hoods, but the Larges did. WTF?
OK, fine, the blue one is out. Because of dandruff, I avoid wearing black, so go with the tan. OK, none of them have a hood. Find a Large, pull it out.
It was a pull-over with a half-zipper.
Look at the front one again. Full zipper. The Smalls and Mediums had full zippers, Larges and bigger had half-zippers. Looked at the blacks, and it was the same thing.
Why would you change the style of your clothes-line at different sizes? It doesn't make sense!
So yeah, still no new sweater jacket.
