It's been absolutely fascinating for me to go through Grandpa Tom's photos because I'm trying really hard to get to know him a little bit through his photography. I've realized over the years that I didn't know Grandpa Tom all that well. I remember he always had these incredibly long stories, that as a child, I could never understand and were therefore boring to me, and that often when we would visit he would fall asleep in the blue chair. I have small memories from other times that give me glimpses of who he was but for the most part I don't know anything about him or his past.
He wrote very little on his pictures, if anything, so I find it interesting what he did write. So as I post them to Flickr I'm only putting up what he wrote on them. The one titled "twenty million years of sculpture" is called that because it's all he wrote on the back.
