Alright. Here's the short version of this: you've been teleported to some town called Mayfield. It seems to be an encapsulated dimension: you walk across the entire town, you come back out the other side. You can't leave.
We're expected to act like we're out of a family sitcom from the 50s or some crap. If we don't, we get droned: that is, we lose our free will for a short time and become these sappy, stupid people.
[He pauses, looking uncomfortably around the wreckage.]
And sometimes crap happens in the town that gets really out of hand.
