800dpi is pushing it. Even if you DO scan in at 800dpi...resizing the file to maybe 3000px - 4000px at the tallest edge would be advised to avoid such large file sizes.
For example, everything I scan in at is 600dpi. Depending on the original size of the file (in pixels) I usually reduce it down by half. This saves on file size and also makes the image clearer.
I would love to be able to download these...but the file size is just a bit too much. :/

It might be nice to provide smaller sizes as well.

When you scan something in at 600dpi (going by this because I don't use anything else), say, a normal sized magazine page, it's approximately 4500px x 6000px. The file quality is a bit fuzzy due to the image size. Reducing it down to about 2500 on the tallest edge not only sharpens the image, it doesn't reduce the dpi. It improves the clearness of the image.
They are STILL at 800dpi. DPI is simply the amount of detail the scanning eye catches while scanning. Dots per inch. So, by default, the smaller the image dimensions, the clearer the image will BE.

I was trying to explain to you that no, the dpi will not be reduced. Neither will the quality. If anything, it makes it less pixelated.
I'm not going to comment again. I offered my advice, and the opinion that the file/image sizes are too large.
