As much as Ninomiya Kazunari loved Ohno Satoshi, He never felt as annoyed and mad as he felt right now.
Waiting alone in the small family restaurant, he looked at his watch and cursed silently. It had been almost two hours from their appointment time. And Oh-chan didn’t even give him message that he was going to be late. Two hours, for God sake….
It had been a difficult and very tricky persuasion to finally made Oh-chan agreed to go with him to dinner. After eleven years, when he reasoned it was to celebrate his big 3-0 birthday, Ohno finally gave in, though a bit reluctantly. Ohno had planned to rent a boat and go fishing through the whole day that day, but a puppy-watery eyed Nino was something that he could not say ‘No’ to.
Unknown to Ohno, his affirmative meant that Nino must keep his long awaited promise, to confess his true feeling. Nino’s heart jumped in happiness and excitement while maintaining his composure when he heard the magic word, “Okay….”
Nino prepared for the day carefully, just to make sure everything would went perfectly. From convincing his band mates not to intervene to any of his plans, preventing them to make any unimportant call, calling Ohno’s mother to borrow her son on his birthday night, to threatening both his and Ohno’s managers to arrange their schedule the way he wanted to so that they would have the same day off until two days ahead.
And all he’d done were just for this night. This particular event. This moment, when he supposed to be have a romantic dinner with his Oh-chan while building his courage to confess, and, he really hoped, Ohno would say ‘Yes’, and they would spent the night together for whatever that might happen, and maybe, if he got lucky, they could have another real date the day after.
Yes. That was what Ninomiya Kazunari had in mind. But reading the situation ahead, he knew that it was not going to happen soon.
He reached down to his pocket and fished out his cell phone. Still no message from Riida. He wanted to cry at once. He could not believe that he had such a bad luck. He was left at his own date.
He was so sure that Ohno, at least had a feeling for him, even just a little. For ages, Nino and Jun had been competing to win Ohno’s heart. At some point, Nino felt grateful that he was the one that Ohno more comfortable with in the matter of physical attachment. But Jun’s much of understanding and his plenty of support was something that Nino couldn’t underestimate.
And Jun had taken his chance, last week, after concert. Nino knew this. He was accidentally passed the old room where he saw Jun and Riida, standing so close. He couldn’t help himself but ear-dropping.
He heard Jun confessing, and Riida said nothing, but something on his face look sorry and sad. And Nino almost lost his breath when he saw Jun closed the gap between them and tried to kiss Riida. But relief washed thought his body instantly when Riida put his hands to prevent Jun made any move further.
He flied from the scene. With plan in his mind.
Nino looked at the phone in front of him. And after made four unanswered called later, he decided something must off. He knew Ohno very well. Even if he wanted to reject someone, he would do it politely, face to face, still with soft words. Letting someone waiting alone on their date, without any news, it was so un-Ohno like that he decided to make a visit to Ohno’s apartment.
If he want to reject me, let him say it on my face, he determined.
Five minutes pressing the bell with no answer, Nino began to think some plots in his mind. Maybe Ohno forgot the date and went fishing alone, and didn’t take his phone with him (it had happened before). Maybe he drew something and forget the world like what he always did when he got too absorbed on his art.
Or maybe something happened on the way so couldn’t make it to restaurant. But something must have been shown in the news, or other members must have called him.
Or maybe he passed out because of tiredness and still lay on the floor unconsciously…
Or maybe…
Or maybe…
Having too many much worse scene in his head, he decided to use the spare key that Ohno had given him on the first day Ohno moved out his family house, to allow himself in.
The lights are on. But the sight in front of him was horrifying. It was a mess. The TV was on. The sofa was piled with pillows and blanket. In the middle of it, rest something of what was called food. Ohno’s cell phone was in the middle of the room, laid forgotten.
The kitchen was worse. Nino swore he thought something was exploding earlier. In the way the kitchen wall colored with patch of colorful, let’s just said, cooking residues, Nino might think this was Aiba’s kitchen.
Nino ran to Ohno’s bedroom. The light was off, but he could see the glimpse of lump in the middle of the bed, covered with layered of blanket.
He took steps forward and sat on the side of the bed. He removed blanket a little just to show Ohno’s head and face. He put his hand on his forehead.
“Oh my god…, you have very high fever…,” he whispered in fear.
Ohno shifted a little to adjust his body according to Nino’s touch. He mumbled something incoherent on his sleep.
Nino smile contentedly. His body had its charm after all.
Nino began to appoint himself to take of Ohno. He went to the kitchen to find some medicine and brought it back with some water. He woke Ohno softly and made him drink the medicine, though he was so sure that Ohno didn’t really conscious at all. He put Ohno back to sleep and arrange the blanket.
Then he began to clean the mess in the living room, cooked something for Ohno in case he woke up, and went back to the bed room to accompany Ohno and have some rest. It was a long day.
Nino dragged the chair to sit beside Ohno. He reached for Ohno’s hand and intertwined their fingers. He put his head on the bed and tiredness started to wrap him, “Oyasumi, Oh-chan…. Get well soon….”

A few hours later, Nino felt a soft tug in his hand. He woke up and realized that he still holding Ohno’s hand. He looked at Ohno’s face and blushed immediately when Ohno stared back at him.
“Oh..chan…. you’re awake…,” he tried to pull his hand away but Ohno gripped him firm.
Nino felt his heart going to explode in a minute as its race keep picking up the more Ohno touch him. He ducked his head low to hide his blushed cheek, cursing himself something like stupid and idiot. Then he felt a warm hand touching his face. He glanced up in an instance, startled.
“Oh…chan…,” he gave him a questioning look.
“Thank you…,” he said softly, still lack of energy, “and I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay…,” he put a little pressure on his entwined hand, to assure Ohno that it was alright. It was not his fault at all that he was having a very bad cold on his birthday, on his supposed to dinner date. Nino even felt sorry that Ohno couldn’t celebrate his birthday properly. Moreover, he was very worried that Ohno could be in worse condition if only Nino hadn’t decided to check on him earlier. Nino was not well-known for his patient and tolerant, but for once he was so glad that he didn’t decide to sulk and left Ohno alone when he was not showing up.
“You should get some rest Oh-chan…. We can go to dinner anytime, right,” he put a gentle smile and checked Ohno’s forehead. The fever was still there, but it had gone down. “Now, go back to sleep. We still have two days off, right? We will invite the others to come and you will get you present tomorrow.”
But Ohno raised his body and reached for Nino’s face. He squeaked in surprised, “Oh... Oh… chan…, wha… what happen?”
And Ohno kiss Nino’s lips, softly, and he pulled out a little bit too fast for Nino to react. “You don’t have to….”
Nino swore his heart stopped beating. He was afraid to move as if even just a breath would make this moment he dreamed so much each and every day, would crumbled and fell into pieces.
“Nino…,” He chuckled, “Breath….”
A silent. Then after a minute Nino still stared blankly, Ohno began to worry.
“Nino… Please… move… or talk… or breathe for heaven’s sake….” Ohno started to cry.
Nino woke up from his trance when he saw Ohno’s teary eyes.
“Don’t cry, please…. What was that, Oh-chan…? I was just too happy…, please don’t cry…,” Nino swept the tear away.
“I’m sorry…. I said you don’t have to. I don’t need anything else. I already have my present here, “ He looked Nino right through his eyes, “It’s you. You are my present.”
Another silent. Then it was Nino who cried this time. He put his face on his hands.
“Don’t tease me Oh-chan… hikz… that’s so cruel… hikz… I really love you, you now… hikz….”
“Nino… Nino… stop crying… I’m not kidding around, Nino….” He reached and held Nino’s face to see him, “I love you too, Nino. I’m in love with you….”
“I’m in love with you, Satoshi, for a long time….”
They shared their cries for some time. It was tears of happiness, of joyful. They both had kept their feelings for a long time. Now, maybe was the right time to put all the misery to an end. They still had a long road to go through, and a lot of things to settle, but they knew, everything would be alright in the end.
“Now that it was settled, hurry get on to bed and cuddle me to sleep. I’m still tired because of the fever you know.” He said with a beautiful pout on his face. And Nino couldn’t help himself to kiss that pout away.
“Hahaha…. Okay your highness….”
“And Kazu…”
“Yeah…?”
“Don’t attack me, ‘kay…”
And Nino just had to smack his head, “Baka…” His face turned into crimson red.
And Nino hop on to bed instantly, and pressed their body together. To put more warmth to Ohno’s body. To reassure the older one that his not going anywhere. But more importantly, to remind himself that all of this was not just a dream, not a fragment of his imagination.
This, is real.
