"People in Kansas talk funny!"

Nov 16, 2005 07:37

First, a TV meme I snagged from my flist:

My "Everybody Loves It And I Do Too" Show: Lost; Even if it's not my OMGSQUEE show this year, this is still the fandom around these parts. And I love it.

My "I'll Catch It on DVD" Shows: Alias and, uh, King of Queens maybe; Alias, because I'm always behind and KoQ because I started buying the sets when I was still watching it, so I'll probably catch up with the rest when they come out too.

My "I LOVE IT AND YOU SHOULD TOO" Show: Supernatural; OMGSQUEE. Watch it. You know you want to. Pretty boys. Cheesy plots. And TONS OF HEART.

My "I Love, But Keep Missing, Dammit" Show: Uhhh...I pretty much watch everything I really want to. But I do like, don't laugh, Yes, Dear but haven't seen it all year.

My Guilty Pleasure Show: Freddie; I'm so embarrassed to admit I'm watching this, but Brian Austin Green is HILARIOUS. Who knew? I never really watched 90210, but what I did see of it he was really dorky, right? Not semi-hot and funny as fuck? Because he's an awesome sidekick. (Kinda like Neil Patrick Harris on HIMYM, but even better.) Now, in other news - Freddie? Still sucks. Can't act. And shouldn't have his own show. At all. But BAG? Totally worth my twenty minutes a week, for sure.

My "Comfort Food" Show: Veronica Mars; Watching it is like home to me. You don't even have to know what's going on there to know you're gonna be happy to see it. House is also like that to me as well. No "house/home" pun intended. Heh.

My "I'll Never Abandon You, EVER" Show: Firefly; We all know how it runs through my blood.

And then...

Gilmore Girls 1x09:

- LMFAOWTF? Why was Jackson's "Kansas" accent, like, a really weird Brando? Or was that just my interpretation of it? Either way, it was hilarious. And so very wrong. And Sookie's uncomfortable, "People in Kansas talk funny!" line was awesome. The delivery was just so cute, and, well, uncomfortable. And true, if you believe Jackson's version. Heh.

- "Oh my God, enjoy Wisteria Lane, you major DRAMA QUEEN!" Hee! And - "Wrap yourself in a towel and trip over a hedge on your way out!" - I've never even seen a single ep of DH, but I've seen that scene before on something. ET, the Emmys, something. And the whole set up was awesome. Plus, I took it as a total dig at DH for making buzz as a "dramedy" when GG never gets any respect. Lauren Graham? Awesome.

- You know, I've always taken the "Lauren and Scott *really* hate each other" rumors with a grain of salt, but you know, the more I see them interact as a "couple" the more I believe 'em. The amazing chemistry of yore? Just not there. I still love Luke and Lorelai the couple with every fiber of my being and want them to be together so much that if ASP decides to FUCK IT UP before the series ends there will be a words. And I'll never watch a show she's a showrunner of again, but I gotta say, I miss the spark of the old Luke and Lorelai. Before they were a couple. The two that didn't look as if they're being coerced into kissing by the guy behind the camera shaking a toy frog. (Which may, or may not, be the one that was in Joaquin Phoenix's hair. Heh.)

It doesn't help that I was just re-watching the end of S4 the other day, with the dancing, and the awkward flirting. Mother was half-watching it too, and I was all, "If he leave before the show ends? I'm done." Of course, she was all, "THAT GUY?!" And I had to be all, "Don't 'THAT GUY?!' Luke, Mother. I, and the masses, love him."

- Rory? Still HATE. Who acts like that and then are REWARDED for doing so. GAH. Wrong on so many levels.

- So, Mini!Luke is here, eh? I can't get myself riled up over it. Is it weird? Yes. Does it suck? Yes. Do I think it'll be problem? Not in the long term, no. ASP will get her fill of this "shocking" storyline and we'll move on.

- Oh, and more Michel. But that's always a standing request. There can never, ever be too much Michel.

Supernatural 1x09:

- I want to squish HotDean in the biggest hug ever. Boy cannot catch a break. If they make CuteDean the "special" one and make HotDean the "sidekick" heads will roll. I don't think that will happen, but that was just a preemptive strike.

- Did Padalecki get a haircut? Something was off about him tonight hair-wise. It was creeping me out.

- Ackles, why must you be so fucking good on this show? You sucked on The Creek. You (and everyone else) sucked in Blonde. Devour was hot, buttered ass. I had written you off as a very, very bad actor. And unattractive, to boot. You were actually on my "avoid" list with actors like Dominic Purcell. You were an actual "deal-breaker" for watching a show. "Jensen Ackles is in it? No way in HELL." I was no fan of Padalecki either, but he wasn't on any lists. Now, I hate to be wrong. Even more so, I hate to admit I was wrong. BUT DAMN, BOY. The Ackles is pretty and at least in this role, can motherfucking act. Given the amount of cheesetastic lines that are saved by his delivery, and his delivery alone, that should tell you something. Every once in awhile he'll still hit a false note and leave me cringing a bit (almost all actors do this, though) but overall he's damn amazing in this part.

Is it a fluke? Is this just the perfect role? Who knows? But to give credit, where credit is totally due - if Ackles wasn't in this, playing HotDean the way he is, I don't think I'd still be watching it.

- DaddyO'Deans? WTF are you doing? Seriously. It better be big because HotDean needed you, really needed you, and you didn't come through. That makes me angry. (PS: Hey, WB? Off topic, but this has been bugging me for awhile now, but WTF is with all the "John and Mary W." names on your network? John and Mary Witter. John and Mary Winchester. Stop making me compare this to The Creek where I will think of C.J. I'm trying to forget him. Thanks.)

- Loretta Devine! She was awesome here. I do hope we see Missouri again. Oh, and "that boy" has me crying foul. Maybe I'm too much into the Jossverse, but that reeks of bait and switch. She'd called them by their names all episode, but we get to that, and it's suddenly, "that boy"? I'm not trusting that "that boy" is actually Sam. It very well could be, but why not call him "Sam" unless we're meant to wonder?

- Why in the HELL would that Mother not have shelves in her fridge? Seriously? I mean, it was the perfect size for a toddler, so that worked out well - but I don't understand it. At all. I even went back and rewatched the first scene with the fridge to see if the poltergeist had maybe moved it, but I don't think so. It appeared to be set up that way from the start. Totally weird. Also? Boy in the crib thingy? Could totally get out if he wanted to anyway. As we were watching it, I turned to my Dad and was all, "Wasn't I climbing out my crib WAY before I was near that age?" He was all, "Yes. You were standing up in it LONG before you could even walk and talk like that boy. And after awhile, you'd figured out how to shimmy over the top, down the railing and onto then to the floor." I've seen pictures. It's true. And it wasn't even on the ground like that kid's was. I could have fallen and hurt myself, lmfao.

- Oh, and why did Lawrence appear to be a really, really small town? LOL. That mile marker sign looked like something leading into my hometown, not Lawrence, where I also lived for a few years. So I was amused by that. When they were talking about the local psychics I was all, "There's one down near Mass St. The NEON FUCKING window lights are blinding at night when you're driving by." For some reason, I do not think this was Missouri's place. Heh.

Oh, and the other night I watched David Boreanaz's bit on Punk'd - and I was higly impressed by him. Not that was unimpressed by him before, but he was just so level-headed, it suprised me. He never pulled the, "Don't you KNOW who I AM?!" card or any bullshit like that. While that is always funny to watch, the person doing it, always looks like a tool. David? Completely caring, calm and collected. Aside from a few cuss words (which, really, I say worse everyday for no reason at all) he was polite as hell. Major points in my books.
