It was well known that Haise loved puns. In fact, all his co-workers liked him especially for his good mood, for it, along with his smiles, always managed to brighten their days.

However, not everyone liked his jokes… Akira sometimes hit him because of the lame puns he would do, though he didn’t really care; the only person that Haise wanted to impress was that cute waiter from Anteiku, the coffee shop Haise liked to go after work.

That day was going to be special; after weeks of trying to court the other, the two-tone-haired male searched for new puns to use with Kaneki (it was the waiter’s name); he was certain he would have a date that night!

“Welcome to Anteiku! Ah, Haise-kun!”

Sasaki stood for some seconds, only looking at the black-haired male’s face, memorizing his smile.

It was a little awkward, especially to Kaneki, who started to look discomposed before so much attention.

“I’m sorry, I was a little distracted.” Haise explained with a smile, taking a deep breath while Kaneki was guiding him to a table. He needed to put himself together.

When Sasaki sat, a guy in the next table broke a cup, the black coffee spilling all over the floor, tiny pieces of porcelain now scattered around the place.

“He seems to be in his coffee break.” Haise spluttered without even thinking, hearing how Kaneki quietly laughed, though, he was trying to keep a professional expression.

Oh, so it was working?

When the black-haired male came back with Haise’s black coffee, he gracefully placed it on the table.

“I’m sorry, I took a while to make it…”

“It’s okay, better latte than never!”

After he sipped the drink, the two-tone-haired male couldn’t help but sigh, his cheeks a little warm.

“It’s really brewlicious, Kaneki-kun.”

Another small laugh and Haise knew he was scoring.

.

The two-tone-haired male, after finishing his coffee, decided to gather enough courage to talk to Kaneki and ask if he was interested in going into a date.

He paid for his beverage and politely called the waiter to a more private place, outside the store (one of Kaneki’s co-workers wasn’t happy with it, but the others said they would cover him.)

“I’m sorry, I really don’t want to trouble you, but… Kaneki-kun, words cannot espresso how happy you would make me if you accepted to go out in a date with me.”

Haise said in a serious tone, holding one of the black-haired-male’s hand, who was surprised, but also amused with the pun.
That was the chance to conclude it perfectly:

“I think we are really meant to bean, Kaneki-kun.”

And by the way Kaneki was laughing and blushing, Haise knew he would have a date.
