or, Why Krystal Should Not Be Allowed On The Internet While She Is Procrastinating On A Paper. (Don't worry, it's done now, thank god. I've just got about twenty minutes to kill before I turn it in)
or Why No One Should Have Told Krystal About Tarot Cards
I'm not into the practice of reading them, but I find what each card represents really, really interesting, especially in the light of Persona 4. For those of you unfamiliar with the game, each character is associated with one of the Major Arcana, and they share certain qualities with what that card represents.
Being me, I take that and run with it. I've assigned major arcana to....most of my original characters and quite a few fandom ones.
Last night, it was the G1!Transformers' turn. I blame it on
fanart on DA of devil!Starscream, but Mizu and I were up well into the night compiling
Optimus Prime:
The Emperor. Power, authority, leadership, strength, sort of father-like.
Bumblebee:
The Fool. Beginnings, happiness, starting out, being awesome even if it seems foolish.
Ironhide:
The Chariot. Van jokes aside, this card's about coming out on top, achieving victory through adversity. Though I'm not sure how much control Ironhide has over himself, this card's the best fit for him.
Ratchet:
Strength. Ratchet's just as strong as the other guys, but he's also the healer, and he's got another kind of energy to him on top of battle-strength. I considered
Temperance for him, too.
Wheeljack:
Ace of Wands. Unless we're just doing major arcana, in which case he would be
the Magician. Both are neat, creative, invent-y cards about doing stuff with what you have.
Jazz:
The Sun. Since there isn't a "rock out because you are AWESOME" card. The sun's about confidence in yourself, embracing yourself, and enthusiasm. He's got skill and style and he knows it.
Cliffjumper:
Five of Wands, bitches. "It is about being alert, engaged, ready to struggle and fight for what is important; defending what you perceive as yours." Though, if I were to give him a major arcana....I don't think it would be the Chariot, that's too controlled. I'm really not sure.
Jet Sky Jetfire:
Judgement. It's actually nothing like what it sounds like -- it's more of an epiphany and moving on from the past.
Prowl: Textbook
Hierophant. Being part of a system, taking orthodox approaches, following the rules....yeeeeeah.
Hound: Unless there's a card out there that expresses curiosity and a desire to learn better, I'm going with
the Star, reflecting his faith in humanity and his wonder at Earth.
Mirage:
The Moon. Illusion, anxiety....he reminds me most of this card mostly because of his invisibility and abilities, but also because of how he feels about the war.
Red Alert: Also
the Moon. It's a very scary card -- fearing illusions that aren't there. If I was assigning only one arcana to each card, Red Alert would be the Moon social link.
NOW, FOR THE DECEPTICONS. >D
Megatron:
The Devil, except possibly in the movie, where he gives up what he is to become
Hangedalvatron.
Starscream:
DEVIL DEVIL DEVIL DEVIL DEVIL Obsession, ignorance....need I say more?
Shockwave:
The Hermit. Seclusion. Learning.
Soundwave: Thinking about
King of Swords. Though Soundwave is...less than articulate, and he's not exactly what you'd call ethical, THERE WAS NO GOOD REASON FOR NAOTO TO BE THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE THIS IS GOOD ENOUGH no one'll fit these things perfectly, and there aren't any flat-out "evil" cards.
None of this is set in stone -- we're still tossing these back and forth. But it's one hell of a start, yeah? Go ahead and toss suggestions past me for any I'm missing (like Rumble ;;), and if I've made any glaring mistakes in my interpretations, let me know. You'll probably see a SG version of this list sometime in the future. lolol tower!CJ ftw
