2. [AU : 1889, England] He had lost one of his best informants to Jack the Ripper, a fact that irked him to no end. Still, he thought as Mr. Wammy drove up (right on time) in the coach and he climbed in, he was not so out of leads yet that he was required to call on Sherlock Holmes.
3. [Crack!fic] "A Study in Lavender?" L mused, picking the book up off the shelf with his thumb and forefinger, only for Holmes to snatch it away.
"It is nothing, I assure you," the taller detective replied, a little too casually.
4. [Crossover : His Dark Materials] "So. You finally discovered it." L stacked one sugar cube on top of another, a luxury that Holmes was surprised he could afford, what with being on the run from the Magesterium. He sat facing away from the newcomer, his face turned towards a desk covered in blueprints. A lemur -- his daemon, Holmes rightly guessed -- leapt nimbly up onto the desk and crouched down, its hunched posture mimicking the messy-haired detective's, its striped tail curling above it. It seemed entirely disinterested in the visitors, a fact that made Holmes' kestrel ruffle her feathers in a huff. We came all this way, she thought. They could at least turn and face us.
"Indeed I have. I must say, it was horrifying, but not entirely unexpected."
"Mr. Holmes," L sighed, "if you had not had guesses as to the Magesterium's true nature, you would have not had the ability to find this place." He turned around on the chair and fixed Holmes with a flat gaze, one that Holmes met and returned impassively. "I don't like small talk."
"Very well. Let us get to the point, then."
5. [First Time] Holmes made his first arrest at twelve. L made his at seven.
6. [Fluff] "I would offer to bring you chocolates, but I doubt you would trust them enough to eat."
7. [Humour] Vash couldn't quite fight down his curiosity. Who was Ryuzaki messaging over the network at all hours of the night?
8. [Hurt/Comfort] "It seems I have been shot."
9. [Smut] Both had little to no experience in these matters, but with their combined intellect, surely base acts of this nature would pose little difficulty. They did not foresee, however, the mutual unwillingness to surrender any ground at all, so it ended awkwardly.
10. [UST] Holmes could appreciate a brilliant mind.
